We had the craziest thing happen last week!
I got an email one day (I don't even remember what day!!) saying that Pottery Barn wanted Paiton for a photoshoot in Wyoming and could she be there Wednesday? I responded and Matt and I kind of thought it was a scam. Rewind 4 years, and when Paiton was a baby she was signed to a modeling agency (hello, the kid's gorgeous!) But we never did a thing with it. Last summer there was a shoot here locally and I finally went in and updated her picture on the website since it still had a baby picture! That was the end of that.
Fast forward to now, and Pottery Barn spotted her and she was just what they were looking for. We told them she was absolutely available and then we waited! Apparently these things are quite last minute and parents are used to just being able to go with the flow!
Monday I got an email that they wanted her for sure and we HAD to be there Wednesday but they had no idea what time, we just needed to wait and see.
We scrambled, Matt took off work, etc. Dad ended up getting us a hotel in Idaho Falls and we drove there Tuesday. We had no idea what time she'd need to be in Wyoming Wednesday and we had planned to drive through the night, but decided she may not be the happiest model that way! Tuesday as we are getting in the car I receive another email that #1 NO siblings are allowed and #2 only ONE parent is allowed!! Luckily we had planned to drop Quinn at my mom's anyway and her and Cami would juggle him for us, we didn't think he'd do well with that quick of a trip and long car ride and we didn't want him running around the set. Matt decided he would still come because he didn't want us traveling alone.
We dropped Quinn off and felt sad leaving him behind, but knew he'd be happier.
Finally later we got the email that she needed to be there by 10 am.
We got to Idaho Falls at like 9 pm and had promised P she could swim, so we did that for awhile before heading to bed.
On our way!
In Idaho Falls at the hotel
Swimming!
Bed time!!
Wednesday morning we got up early (some of us did NOT want to get out of bed:)
and headed to Jackson Hole!
It was a really pretty drive, I really liked it. We loved all the towns outside of Jackson Hole and decided we could definitely settle with living there! ;)
Matt and P at the lookout spot we stopped at:
As we were driving to the shoot location Matt realized it was probably going to be in one of the huge, fancy log cabins we were passing. He was right! Turns out it was a shoot for the Pottery Barn Holiday Catalog! There was an awesome Christmas tree and everything! It was such a surreal experience! We got there early, and went and had breakfast on the river.
Then Matt dropped Paiton and I off at the shoot and went to wander Jackson Hole alone (poor guy!) and work, he had a conference call anyway!
Once there we met the little boy that Paiton would be working with. Her "brother" for the day. His name was Tyce and he was pretty sweet. They were instant friends and just started playing together.
The costume girl came out and got P fitted in her costume (cute jammies and the cutest furry boots!) and they did her hair and got Tyce ready too.
My view during the shoot:
The outside of the cabin:
They had a little outside area set up for us and the kids with Goldfish crackers and Capri Suns. Paiton thought that was fantastic! There was also a big, old dog there. He was so sweet and let the kids play with him. When it was time to go in (about an hour after we got there), they came and got the kids. We weren't allowed to go in. I was pretty sad, but they said it causes a lot more of a distraction to the kids, and that if we were needed they would definitely come get us. They had all the windows and doors open and we could kind of see what was happening if we peeked! The man running the shoot was AWESOME. He was so perfect with the kids. I don't think they even realized they were having their pictures taken! He was having them play, call him silly names, etc. He sent them on scavenger hunts and made them laugh like crazy. My heart was so happy to hear her having so much fun! She had NO idea she was "working". They had to give the kids breaks every so often. They'd come sit with us outside and drink RED Capri Suns (I was having a heart attack she was going to spill on these clothes!) and catch frogs! :)
They worked until about noon. They brought P out and said she was done, but took Tyce back to grab a few more shots of him with some "boy" stuff. Paiton was kind of sad she didn't get to do that, but it was all boy stuff so we tried to cheer her up that she didn't want her picture with boy stuff!
We think that they were doing a shoot for these really cute sleeping bags! We have no idea on any of the details! It's pretty hush-hush and they won't say much. We aren't allowed to share any pictures from the shoot, but once the catalog comes out I will! It was so much fun!
If you want to start receiving the catalogs in the mail so you can see her (I ASSUME this is where it will be!) then sign up here:
We really loved the experience and are so glad Paiton had fun!
After the shoot we walked around Jackson Hole for awhile so that we could stretch our legs etc, before turning around and driving 6.5 hours home!
After lunch, of course we needed ice cream! It was SO good!
Paiton LOVED the antler arches. She was pretty sure they were made from "yak horns" and kept wanting to touch them and take a picture with them! She's so silly!
It's tiring being a model! The long drive home:
