Phone Pictures

Time for a phone picture dump! :)
Quinn just lounging in the cart :)

Mr. Blue Eyes eating snacks at Ema's house
I bought this onesie for our first nephew, Cadon, nearly 6 years ago! Now Quinn is wearing his cousin's hand-me-downs! Time goes too fast!

Brief background: Matt and I have been working to not spend money on things that aren't a necessity. We haven't taken ourselves out to eat in a looong time to save money. One of our favorite things is Taco Tuesday at Cafe Rio and today we had a little extra money so the kids and I met him down there for lunch! Quinn ate (and loved!) his first quesadilla! He ate just as much as Paiton - the whole thing!

Last Friday Quinn started acting "off". He was REALLY grumpy and wouldn't nap and was having trouble sleeping at night - so unlike the "new" Quinn. When he gets ear infections those are his symptoms. He never gets a fever or anything else. He had some junk coming out of his ears and after I called the ENT they thought he probably did have 2 ear infections and had me start the antibiotic ear drops we have on hand. I did those for 3 days and yesterday he seemed ok. Today he was fussy again and instead of taking his second nap he just cried and cried for two straight hours. I called the pediatrician and they said they would check his ears and make sure the infection had cleared.
I took him in and she checked and said his ears were fine. She looked him over and checked his mouth. I didn't think it was teeth bothering him. He has 7 that are all the way in and #8 I can't see yet so I didn't think it would be bothering him. What she said surprised me - all 4 of his molars are on their way in!! Agh! She said that that is really early for molars, but since he started getting teeth early and already has so many, she wasn't surprised. I didn't even think about molars AT ALL and I'm a little bummed (for him) that they're already coming in! :( Poor guy! That explains all the drool and runny nose!
Here is the overly tired baby boy tonight at dance class. Patiently waiting for sister and eating some peach applesauce!
Quinn is doing great otherwise. He's a good sleeper and a good boy. He eats a ton all the time. He loves his prune apple juice and coconut milk - which he drinks only with a straw and refuses anything else.
Dr. Zieba asked about crawling and I told her that a couple of weeks ago he realized he could roll as a mode of transportation. He rolls all over the house - he rolls to find me, to find Paiton, to find toys, to find food he threw on the floor earlier, etc. It's really funny and he's FAST. She said that lots of babies do that and that she doesn't think he'll ever crawl now! She said that once they are mobile in some way other than crawling (so rolling for him) they don't typically crawl b/c they don't need to! She said that it doesn't matter at all since crawling isn't a milestone an doesn't mean anything, too funny! I told her he still doesn't care to stand or pull himself up. She held him up to see that he COULD stand and laughed when he just sat down and did this funny barrel roll he does to get to his stomach from sitting. She said he could and can stand if he wanted to - he simply just doesn't care! Just like his sister! So funny! She expects him to one just do it all and walk - and I don't mind him taking his time. I need him to stay a baby as long as possible!! :)
I'm SO happy that we've only been to the doctor for regularly scheduled check ups other than today this winter!! SO much better than last winter when we had multiple bouts of croup, breathing treatments at home, steroids and more steroids, and cold after cold after cold!! The kids are MUCH healthier this year and I think it's because Matt isn't working with dirty, sick kids every day! Whew! So glad this winter has been much kinder to us, we couldn't have dealt with anything else!
He got to show off a bit during his appointment too when sister gave him a chance. Dr. Zieba wanted to see what "tricks" he could do. His current list of tricks are that he waves hi and bye, shakes his head "no", and gives high fives (which I LOVE). He also says mama, dada, uh-oh, no, hi!, and pop! Paiton has a song she sings about "popping bubbles, pop, pop, pop!" and Quinn loves to join in and say "Pop!" Now that he has the "p" sound down, Paiton is desperately trying to teach him to say Pai Pai! Hopefully that is his next word! :)

The Most Beautiful Girl

I feel like I post lots of pictures of Quinn and less of Paiton lately. I feel like Quinn is growing and changing so fast that I have to constantly be capturing it. Pation is growing just as fast. She is AMAZING. One day while she was eating her lunch the light was perfect on her and I just couldn't NOT take her picture.
She's gorgeous and she takes my breath away all.the.time.
The next is one of my all time favorites:
She was having fun making silly faces at me!

The other day I was at Matt's parents house doing one year pictures of our nephew, Ethan. Paiton and Kylie love to play together and were having so much fun. I walked into Kathy's room to check on them and this is what I found:
=)
A few fun facts about Paiton at this age (3 years 3.5 months):
~ Quinn had a doctor's appointment today and {as usual} Paiton stole the attention. She kept interrupting the doctor saying "Excuse me, Dr. Zieba?" over and over and over. I kept "Shhh"ing her and asking her not to interrupt. Finally Dr. Zieba said "I just can't take it anymore! I have to talk to her!" And she and Paiton had a long conversation about Paiton's favorite colors {pink and purple}, Paiton's favorite toys {dolls and dollhouses}, her favorite things to do {read, go to school, and dance}, etc. She had Dr. Zieba just about in tears with laughter. She asked me "Does she prefer to play with kids that are 5 or 6 rather than her own age?" I said "Yes, she gets really frustrated with kids her own age after awhile because they typically can't communicate the same way or know the same things." Dr. Zieba asked about her pre-school and wanted to make sure she was in with older kids (she is - she's the youngest in the class of 4 and 5 year olds), etc. She said that because of Paiton's intelligence level she'll probably gravitate toward older kids who can communicate better and are interested in the same things she is. Good to know! (I'll post later about Quinn's appt!)
~ I need to take a picture of her newest drawings - people and octopuses - they are great!! LOVE the kid drawings.
~ She is still obsessed with letters and spelling words. She likes to sound things out "L-l-l-ion. Mom, you have to stick your tongue out and say L-l-l-l-lion!" She also always does what words start with what letters: "Mouse starts with m-m-m-M, Ashley starts with a-a-a-A, Quin starts with q-q-q-Q!" (You get the point!)
~ She invented a new game. When she wants to play it she says "Can we think about animals? I'll go first." The game is basically that you think of a funny animal and have it do something that animal's don't do and it has to be phrased the following way: "One day I saw ____". Some of my favorites that she's done is "One day I saw a hippo driving a school bus." And "One day I saw Kotah going down a slide!"
~ She goes through "favorite" movies a lot. Right now her favorites are Lady and the Tramp and Aladdin.
~ Her favorite foods are turkey, edamame, cheese, wheat saltines, chocolate, ice cream, applesauce, any fruit or vegetable, quesadillas, grilled cheese, and peanut butter and honey sandwiches.

She is just the love of our lives and we are so lucky to have her to entertain us and make us laugh daily.

My 25

I was tagged in someone else's blog on a "My 25". Basically you're supposed to write 25 things about yourself, and then tag others to do it. What the heck, I'll give it a shot!
1.) I don't like feet. They're gross.
2.) I started selling Scentsy and I LOVE it. When the UPS man brings a package - even if it's not for me - I get super giddy. It's like Christmas year round!
3.) I have this weird obsession with numbers and time. I don't even know if my husband knows this - but I add stuff up always. Numbers I see - license plates, time, house numbers, etc., have to add up to 10 or be equal to each other. So 10:19 is good because 10 = 1+9. :) Get it? Yeah, I'm crazy. Actually we talked about this in multiple psychology classes of mine, and it's a way that my brain works and there are others that do similar things!! Man was I relieved to know I'm not alone! ;)
4.) I'm not sarcastic at all!! (note the sarcasm)
5.) After I touch raw meat I have to wash my hands 3 times with antibacterial soap. This drives Matt nuts.
6.) I'm a sanitizer. I don't feel like anything is CLEAN until I sanitize it.
7.) I love to blog and read other blogs and wish I had more time to do it.
8.) I kiss my kids WAY too much. Like contsantly.
9.) I've had two babies throw up in my mouth - Cadon and Quinn. True story. With witnesses.
10.) I don't mind doing laundry and I love the smell of clean laundry - but I HATE putting it away. I'd rather the clean the bathroom. This is why mine and Matt's dressers are stacked 8 feet high with clean clothes, and why I throw clean clothes in my kids rooms and shut the doors.
11.) I'm easily annoyed by stupid people. Sorry, that's just how it is. Also by closed minded people.
12.) The kids and I (and usually Matt too) have a dance party in our kitchen at least once a week. I'm talking full on dance party. So fun.
13.) This is harder than I thought it would be...
14.) I usually have bare feet. I don't love shoes. I prefer flip flops and only DON'T wear them if it's wet out, and sometimes even then I do - another thing that drives Matt nuts.
15.) I sleep on the right side of the bed and I always take a half full bottle of water to bed with me - which I don't touch again for the rest of the night. I just need to know it's there. Once a week Matt takes 7 half full bottles out to the recycling for me. :)  <---- true love.
16.) Paiton gets her hippiness from me. I'd be super happy to live on the beach in a van, dirty curly hair, nice tan, in a bathing suit, braiding hair for a living, with little naked, tan babies running around. Alas, we live in Idaho. :/
17.) I WISH I were a runner. I wish I could turn on an iPod, push the double stroller and just go. But it's so boring, it makes my side hurt, and I just don't get the appeal. I only run if somethings chasing me.
18.) Sometimes I prefer Pepsi, sometimes Coke. But never diet - it's gross and contains carcinogens and if it's going to give me cancer I'd rather drink the good stuff.
19.) My BIGGEST pet peeve in the whole wide world is mouth noises. I hate, hate, hate when people eat loud, chew with their mouths open, smack their lips, and in general be disgusting. It makes my skin crawl. I have goose bumps just typing that. My poor husband - the second he makes one of those noises immediately looks at me b/c he knows I'm just sitting there glaring at him. It's in my blood, I can't change it. When I make those noise myself it's just as annoying and I shudder!
20.) My favorite coffee drink is a double chocolate mocha with peppermint with extra foam.
21.) I hate milk.
22.) My favorite adult drink is a Mojito.
23.) My favorite color is bright red.
24.) I have a really bad back. Probably due to years of cheerleading and being throw in the air. It's been bad for years but got much worse with pregnancy and carrying babies. Every single night it gets really tight and spasms really bad. I have lay down flat on a heating pad to loosen it up enough to be even remotely comfortable. Because of this I have permanent "hot" marks on my back from the heating pad and laying on it nightly for years.
25.) I have the best 2 kids in the world. Paiton is my social butterfly but SO sweet, good hearted, kind, and CALM. Such a good minder and listener. Quinn is just a sweet, sweet soul. I can tell that he is a GOOD boy and I am so thankful we got him even though it wasn't in our "plan". He is amazing beyond belief. And I have a pretty amazing husband too. He washes dishes, takes out the trash, clears out my water bottles, cleans up dinner messes, and looks hot playing tennis. :)

The end!
I'm not going to "tag" anyone b/c I have no idea who reads this blog - but if you read this and want to do it - go for it!! :)

Quinn is a very photogenic baby! He's just so dang cute and those blue eyes get me every time!!
While sister was at school one day I snagged some pictures of Quinn eating his snack!

Being his usual happy self hanging out with Mom one morning! We are always the first ones up in the house and it's really nice to have that time together!

 Yay! Paiton's awake! :)
My kids are just so sweet I can't even stand it.
Quinn is at a really fun age. He has such a sweet personality. He is starting to develop some separation anxiety from Mommy! If I walk out of a room, leave his line of sight, etc., it can elicit some screeches from him! He is rolling ALL over the place - it's his mode of transportation and it's hilarious. I put him on all 4's to crawl but he so does not care in the least! He's very ticklish, loves to laugh, and loves his sister. :) Paiton is still keeping busy with 3 days of school and 1 night of dance every week. She LOVES both and is such a good girl. Sometimes I forget how lucky we are to have such a well behaved girl - then I see a 3 year old throwing themselves on the ground and kicking and screaming in Winco and know that Paiton would never, ever, do such a thing! She's a good listener and minder and we are so lucky to have such good and fun kids!
Nothing very new to report over here. We are just plugging along.
Matt played in a Twilight tournament this weekend. All the matches were late at night - some as late as 1 and 2 am! He and his partner - Katie - did great! They won all of their matches until they lost in the semi-finals. They should NOT have lost - the other team was so bad that it was throwing off Katie and Matt having to play down to them! Plus I was there and I'm always a curse to Matt! But big thanks to Kathy for coming over so I could go to his match. It didn't even start until 9:30ish. I'm glad I got to go watch - I haven't been able to watch him play in over 8 months - and he plays every single week at least once! :( I love to watch him - he's a stud!! And Cami and Patrick came to cheer him on and watch with me!
Also this weekend my parents celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary! Happy anniversary guys! You rock and Matt and I are lucky to have 2 sets of happily and long married parents to look up to.
Other than that it's just been life as usual! Matt's working and still loving his job at the Idaho Tennis Association. I'm still working, doing photography, and getting into Scentsy more. I love it! It's a lot of fun!!
That's us this week in a nutshell! ;) This weekend we look forward to taking the kids to the Kids Fair on Saturday. Tomorrow I get to take my nephew's one year pictures - that means that Quinn's 1 year pictures are right around the corner!! :( Time goes too fast!!

Oops

Last night I was snuggling in bed with Paiton {who has been back in our bed recently due to her night terrors coming back. : / She's started being violent during them again and kicking the wall she and Quinn share.} when Matt came running upstairs, opened the bedroom door and said "Ashley you have to come downstairs right now. Right now, get down here now!" I asked "Why?" a few times and he just kept telling me to get down there. I thought he flooded something or broke something or lost a dog. But as I'm following him downstairs he says while panting "I have to make myself throw up!"
...
Come to find out Matt accidentally* took one of Keilah's pills she takes for Epilepsy. He took 32.5 mg of Phenobarbital and then panicked. I tried to calm him down**and told him that humans take Phenobarbital too and that it's not just for dogs. He was pretty sure he needed to induce vomiting and that the worst was going to happen. I hopped on the internet and searched about overdosing on it and tried to find a regular "human" dose. Finally I just called Poison Control. The lady was really nice*** and got some information. She told me that they prescribe 30 mg to sedate people and that a normal does was between 30-60 mg. She said he would be fine, did NOT need to throw up, and that he would just be tired and maybe a bit groggy in the morning. She also gave me the OK to make fun of him.
Matt was happy to hear he would live, not happy to hear that I was going to continue teasing him, and eager to go to bed. This morning he reported being fine but just a bit foggy in the head.
Funny that 30 mg makes a grown man feel that way but my tiny, 15 pound dog takes 60 mg a day and is still a complete psycho.

* - You might be wondering how one "accidentally" takes a dogs pill. That was the first question out of my mouth. Matt says that he got Keilah's pill to give her, then was going through his tennis bag getting it ready for today, picked up the Advil bottle, shook it to make sure there were some in there, then got a drink of water and took the pill in his hand - which is his routine before tennis. He thinks he just subconsciously took it b/c he had just had Advil in his hand. I don't know. Needless to say I teased him about taking any pills that happen to be in his hands and we taught Paiton to say "Just say NO to drugs." Hehe.
** - I did try to calm him down. It may have been difficult considering I was literally choking on laughter. I'm the person you may not want near by when you're panicking because chances are, I'm going to laugh at you. I can't help it. It comes from my mom. If you trip and fall - I'll ask if you're ok, but only after I double over in laughter. Sorry about that. But I did try to calm him down. Laughing can be calming, right?!
*** - The lady was really nice. I may have still been laughing when I talked to her and she may have started laughing as well once she looked it all up and said he'd be fine. When she said "do you have any other questions?" And I said "Is it ok if I continue to laugh at hime?" And she said "Well, I would." I felt a little less bad for laughing. ;)

Overall it was an interesting event, hopefully it doesn't happen again (as I saw him getting the pill to give her this morning I may have thrown out a "Now Matt, that's a DOG pill, don't take it, ok?") and Matt is just fine (so far...) so it had an ok outcome.
{{And by the way - I did warn Matt that I was going to post this on the blog!}}
Love ya Matty!! =)

And while I'm posting...just a couple pictures I found on my phone of the single cutest boy alive:
His "man hair" after his bath
My tiny baby in the big boy carseat!! He got Paiton's car seat and she got a new one. No more carrying around his baby car seat! He's all grown up! ;)

Valentine's Day 2012

Happy Valentine's Day!
Hope you all had a love filled day! :)
We had a lot of fun!
Paiton of course had to get all gussied up for her school Valentine's Party. She even took Unicornio - Unicornio is her new best friend. She named her Unicornio (Spanish for unicorn because my child typically prefers to speak Spanish when possible) and carries her around with her!
Paiton got to pick out Valentine's cards for her class! She wanted Lalaloopsy cards SO bad but they don't seem to exist. She settled for Princess cards and candy and we also made some Lalaloopys ones that she colored and we taped them to the packages of candy!
Quinn wearing his "Big Flirt" shirt!

His hair is getting so thick and so long! I just can't bear to get it cut so we may have a surfer hippie on our hands shortly. ;) We love it in a mohawk but it's even getting a bit long for that now!!
Onto our Valentine's!! =) We got each kid a present - Paiton a Lalaloopsy and Quinn a teether (I don't know why I keep buying him teethers. He has 7 teeth now and hates teethers, I keep hoping that for my sake if nothing else, he will start to use them!!) and they got cards. I got 4 cards for Matt - 2 I hid for him to find during his day, one I mailed to him at work, and one I gave to him at our dinner! It was fun!! Of course Matt had to work all day, I worked, and Paiton had school - it was pretty much just a normal day. We had planned on just having a fun and delicious dinner so that's what we did!! Our favorite restaurant in the world closed and we've been craving it (when aren't we!?) so I made a couple recipes out of their cookbook!!
But before I get there, Paiton helped me make chocolate dipped strawberries and chocolate chunk cookies! Yum!!
Then I made the famous Mona Lisa Green Sauce!! It is SO good! And good for us - it made an entire blender worth!! Woohoo!! I gave a Nalgene bottle full to our friends the Lesters who we used to go to Mona Lisa with!

For dinner we had the North of Paris fondue from Mona Lisa! YUM!!! It turned out great and was sooo good! Then Matt grilled up a steak and we shared it. Delicious!! We were stuffed! It's a different experience eating fondue standing while feeding a baby with the other hand - haha!! But we had fun!
When Matt got home from work he had a card for me and these flowers for Paiton and I! (I think mostly Paiton, I was an afterthought, but Paiton LOVES to get flowers and felt so special that her daddy brought these home for her!!)
These pictures are all from my phone! I don't think I got any "real" pictures, but if I did I'll come across them sooner or later and post them!

10 on 10

I follow lots of blogs where the author - usually a mom - does 10 on 10. It's on the tenth day of the month and you take 10 pictures to show how your day went. I think technically it's supposed to be that you take a picture every hour for 10 hours, but my days don't work that way so I snapped pictures as I could! These are from February 10th!
Here's a glimpse into our day to day life!
LOTS of laundry!
 Playing on the floor
 Work, of course. Bleh.
 Rest time.
7 new teeth means Quinn feels like this:
 =(
 Playing pirate
 Quinn's such a good napper! {and always covers his face with his monkey blankey}
Obviously I spent some time taking pictures, and documented me taking pictures. ;)

 Making dinner. Yum.
And it was over 50* outside this day!! Flip flop weather, woohoo!
These pictures crack me up!! We all know Paiton is the best big sister in the world. When Quinn wakes up, she's the one he wants, same goes for Paiton wanting him! They are so sweet and play well together.
The other day I walked in to find Paiton playing Mommy to Paiton and "changing" Quinn's diaper!! =)
Of course Quinn was just eating up the attention!
I love that she got both his feet in her one hand like I do!

For Christmas my sweet Mama gave me and Cami tickets to see Brad Paisley. We love to go to concerts together and it's a lot of fun! I love my concert buddy!! We saw Brad the last time he was here too and this one was just as good!!
