PLAYDATE!

So here's the story. A few weeks ago at Target I met another mom with a baby just a month older than Paiton, he was born on October 11. Mom's name is Amy and baby's name is Shaun Jr. We started talking in Target after she commented on Paiton and decided we should hang out sometime. They only live like 7 minutes away from us! We both work from home and need friends to hang out with during the day.
So today we had our first play date. Paiton and Shaun got along and had a fun time! I took a ton of pictures, here are just some of them!
Getting to know each other...
And already holding hands!
Shaun was nice enough to share all his toys with Paiton
Isn't he just adorable!?
Looks like we have a new set of best friends!
Holding hands

Paiton trying out his doorway jumper. She loved it! I think we're going to have to get one! She didn't quite get the hang of the jumping, she just spun in circles. You should see Shaun in this, he jumps like crazy and it is so funny to watch!

Amy's Baby Shower

This Sunday was Amy's baby shower. It was a lot of fun and I won a prize! Amy got LOTS of baby clothes, mostly pink! Here are some pictures from it:
Grandma won the poopy diaper game!
All of the girls:
Sunday night Titi and Nana wanted to help feed Paiton her cereal so we had a cereal feeding party :)

Yesterday Paiton went to Barb's again, just for a couple hours, so I could get some work done. When we got there I took her out of her carseat to find she had pooped through her clothes! This happened the last time I took her to Barb's! Dang it!
Then we headed to Grandma and Grandpa's. Paiton for some reason won't take a bottle from Barb and I didn't want to drive all the way home with a hungry baby so we made a pit stop so I could feed her. Grandpa played with Paiton while Grandma and I played Yahtzee and Farkle. Paiton and I go to their house a couple times a week. It gets really lonely and boring sitting at home all day and they're close enough to us that we get to go hang out! We have lots of fun there. They might get tired of us, but if they do they shouldn't make it so fun to come over! Yesterday Grandma had strawberries and chocolate caramel to dip them in for us! Yum!!
Today we are going to head to Boise to visit my friend Lisa Newhouse's baby, Jacoby. I will put pictures up later!

Dane and Paiton

Aunt Cheri is here for Amy's baby shower so last night we had a family dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's. It was fun and Dane and Paiton had fun playing together! I have to show these super cute pictures of them playing. And Paiton is doing so well sitting up!!
Seriously, how cute are these cousins!?

Dane was "Reading" to Paiton and she was listening very intently. Not long after this he decided to stop reading and instead drive the book into Paiton's legs, which she thought was funny.

Cereal - Take One

We fed Paiton cereal last night for the first time! She is 5 months 1 1/2 weeks old. I probably waited way longer than I needed to but I was nervous! She is my baby and I'm feeding her food! It's crazy! She didn't really know what to think. She made funny faces but ate it! We didn't get too much in her before she started getting tired of it and wanting out of her high chair, but she did good! Here are some pictures!

And here she is in her super cute summer outfit!

And in sad news, our 80+ temperatures are gone for awhile. We are now back into the 50's. :(

Park FUN!

I took Paiton to the park today to play! We had a great time! I just have to say that I am so thankful for the baby I got! She has got to be the greatest, there is just no way around it! She has such a good personality. She does whatever I want and is always happy to be outside. She is a champ! She definitely is a blessing and I feel so complete now that she is in my life. I am the luckiest mom in the world!
First we played on the blanket for awhile while we waited for the baby swing to open up. She is learning to sit up by herself, she is doing really well! She can do it for a little bit of time now without tipping over. She is getting stronger at it every day! (notice her poor waffle burn still! now peeling!)

She loves to swing, I am telling you! I don't know why she doesn't like her swing at home. I think it's because these ones have her sitting up whereas the one at home is more laying down. She was in a trance and some of the other moms at the park were laughing at her being so relaxed!
This is her newest face she likes to make

Just hanging out...

Not asleep but thinking about it!

A quick one...

Here are a few pictures of our princess! It has been so nice here! Yesterday it reached over 80 degrees! Today is supposed to be more of the same! When we were walking on Saturday it was only in the low 70's and there were kids playing in the water in their yards! Last night Paiton and I hung out on the porch while Matt did yardwork and watched the kids across the street run through the sprinklers! I'm so glad it's finally that time. Although by the weekend it's supposed to cool way down and rain :( We will have to enjoy it while it lasts. Today Paiton and I will be heading to the park I think! We need to get out of the house and enjoy this weather!
Here she is in her first summer outfit of the year, a cute onesie and a little skirt!!
Since Paiton has decided she is too big for her swing we bought her this jumpy seat. Matt says we spoil her and that as soon as she decides she doesn't like one thing we run out and get her something else. True! :) Isn't that what you're supposed to do!? Her feet don't touch the ground yet but when they do she will be able to bounce up and down!
On Sunday we walked around a park that had a pond filled with geese and baby geese! They were so cute. I forgot my camera though so I didn't get any pictures of the babies. We went with Nana, Papa, Grandma and Grandpa while Matt was at tennis. Then we decided to see if Paiton liked the swings and she did! She loved it. Papa was cracking up because it seemed like she was in a trance, just staring off into the distance enjoying every minute of swinging! I did manage to get a picture with my phone and it actually turned out well! So here she is, my little girl swinging! We plan on doing more of this today!

Waffles

I am happy to post that we have been having such nice weather here in Idaho! It has been in the high 60's and 70's over the last couple of days and is supposed to reach 80 tomorrow!!!! We have been enjoying it for sure!
Friday Paiton and I hung out with Nana as usual and went for a nice walk in the sunshine.
Paiton showed off her rolling skills to Nana, who was very impressed! Here she is mid-roll and post roll :)

Saturday Cami had a soccer game in Nampa so Paiton and I went to cheer her on. It was really windy and cold that morning, especially out on the soccer field with nothing to block the wind. We sat huddled under a blanket and Paiton napped almost the whole time. She is such an outside baby!

Being the new mommy that I am, it never occurred to me that I should put sunscreen on the baby. It was cold and windy so it didn't even cross my mind. So when we got home Matt noticed something on Paiton's head and asked what it was. Oops, I burned my baby!! She got sunburned on the left side of her face, since that was the side facing the sun. And notice her hat in the above picture, because of it she got a nice patterned burn on her forehead, earning her the new nickname, Waffles.
Look closely to the left side of her face, and you'll see her waffle iron sun burn!! =(

This picture really doesn't even do it justice. In real life it's so much more noticable. I feel so bad that I burned her and I totally didn't mean to, but come on....it's a little funny right!? She isn't in any pain or anything (at least she's not acting like it). If she were crying or acting hurt I'd be feeling even more guilty! Guess we know this baby is her daddy's clone! My dad said it's a good thing she didn't burst into flames! :) It really wasn't that sunny out! No more outings without being lathered up in sunscreen!

Naptime Troubles

Well, needless to say we are having some naptime issues. Paiton was so colicky when she was a new baby that she got used to being held constantly. So she was used to taking naps in my arms. Anytime I try to put her down, she wakes up and won't go back to sleep. She screams if I put her down awake. So I was at a loss. I read two different books and both basically said to put her down awake but tired and let her cry herself to sleep. If she is still awake after an hour and ten minutes, to pick her up, play with her, and then try again and she will definitely be tired and fall asleep the second time. I have done that the past two days and....NOTHING! This baby can scream until time stops! I feel so bad because it's been over 8 hours of screaming the last two days. She took one mini nap yesterday, only because she fell asleep in my arms and I carefully transfered her to my bed, where she slept for just a little bit. Not even close to a real nap! I think she was overally tired last night from no naps for two days because she didn't sleep very good, she kept waking up wanting to play! I have tried everything, the swing, giving her something that smells like me, putting her in her swaddle blanket, nothing works!

I have taken advice from my friends and my mom, but now I'm at a loss! Do I keep making her cry it out even though it doesn't seem to be working? Do I just let her keep napping in my arms which leaves me trapped and unable to do anything? Please help!

Look how cute she is when she's asleep. I'd like more of this ;)

Mini Update!

I just wanted to give everyone an exciting mini update! Spencer didn't have school today so Paiton and I went over to visit him. We were playing with her on the floor and decided to do some trauma time! Immediately Paiton rolled over! She did this about 4 more times! Then Cami got home from school so we had to show her and she did it again! As soon as I put her on her tummy - over she goes! It is so cool! It seems like it just clicked with her all at once that if she didn't want to be on her tummy she doesn't have to be! It was really exciting!
Also, Grandma Riggs had cataract surgery today so we stopped by to see how she is doing. She is doing great! Her eye was still very dialiated and will probaby be so tomorrow too but she is doing fine and isn't in any pain! Just a little dry feeling and discomfort.
Right now Paiton is laying in her bed crying. I am trying to break her of having to be held during naptime so we started this afternoon with me laying her down while she's sleepy. She is still crying pretty hard after about 20 minutes. When I go in to check on her she gets quiet and happy that I'm going to pick her up, then I leave! I feel so guilty but hopefully she will fall asleep soon and it will get easier. Be thinking of us! Soon enough we might both be curled in bed crying!

Ryan Jacob Lurcook

On Easter, April 12, Ryan Jacob Lurcook made his appearance! He was born at 1:01 am and weighed 8 lb. 7 oz. Everyone is doing good. He has blonde hair but otherwise looks like Cadon! Cadon is excited to have his brother finally here and things are going well! We can't wait to meet you Ryan! We love you!
Here he is!!

Easter weekend

Hi everyone. Time for an update!
This weekend was Easter of course! But before that, on Saturday, Matt and I went out on a date without the baby! We went to the movies and Mom and Dad watched Paiton. Poor poor Mom and Dad got a taste of Pai's stubborness! She is quite the Momma's girl at night and when it became bed time she got very upset and the screaming began! The only time she wasn't screaming was when they were outside walking her through the neighborhood in the cold!! We had planned to get ice cream after the movie but instead we just drove the Dairy Queen and went to get the baby! It was very pitiful and sad and I thank Mom and Dad for dealing with it!! Look how stinkin cute she is though!!

On Saturday I also dyed Easter eggs. Alone. It wouldn't be Easter without dying eggs but apparently the kids are too old for it now. So I dyed them at Mom's by myself! Mom did a couple to make me feel better :) They turned out pretty, and they were delicious as deviled eggs!

Here are a bunch of Easter pictures, of the princess in her dress. Thank you to Grandma Riggs who bought Paiton her whole outfit!
When we were little the Easter Bunny always hid our Easter baskets and we had to find them. This year he hid Paiton's! Pai and Daddy had to find the goodies!

She started with this super cute flower in her hair that I made, but it was too heavy, it wouldn't stay up, so we ditched it!
Her beautiful dress and little sweater!
Grandpa Chris and Paiton
Stacie and Paiton, me and Kylie
Our family!
Us with Matt's parents
She liked playing with Grandpa's collar on his shirt
Paiton and Grandma and Grandpa
Pai Pai and Nana and Papa
Grandma and Grandpa gave her this duck that she decided was very snuggly. She just kept rubbing her face on him! It was too cute.

I hope everyone had a good Easter!
Today I took Paiton to Barb's for the first time! Barb is an awesome lady who watched Cami and Spencer when they were little and now she's going to watch Paiton on Mondays for me so I can get some work done! She is the nicest lady and I am sure that Paiton is going to fall in love with her. However it is very hard to leave your baby! I about cried when I left her and did cry when I called mom to tell her I had left her! I hope Paiton doesn't feel abandoned or anything! I think it will be good for both of us. She will get to play with some kids and not be in my constant care! So be thinking about her (and me!) and hope that she does well!!
