P Pod and Randomness

I tried getting video of Paiton talking. Anytime I bust out the camera she stops! So in the first video she starts crying. Then in the second video I hid the camera and you can hear her talking! Yay!! Watch them and see how big she is!





She is doing really good. Right now she is in her swing, which she still loves! I am trying to get a little bit of work done but am getting nowhere. Partially because I am blogging instead, and partially because she thinks it's a fun game to spit her binky out and then yell at it for not being in her mouth. So I have to get up and go put it back. Then I sit down, and repeat.
The other night Paiton learned how to scream just for fun! It was hilarious. We were all laying in bed playing and Paiton just started shreaking. Then she'd laugh and do it again. It was too funny. Matt and I really enjoyed it! She also has discovered her hands lately and sometimes she will just hold them out in front of her and stare at them like they're the most amazing things ever. I love it. She really is a smart baby and she cracks us up everyday. I can't wait until everyone gets to meet her.

1. My favorite time is early morning when I can snuggle in bed with Paiton
2. I love the way Paiton's breath smells like milk all the time. Sometimes I get close to her just so I can smell it!
3. I take pictures of Paiton every single day

5. I miss my nephew Cadon like crazy and I think about him and what he's doing all the time

14. All day long I have court TV shows on in the background. I usually don't have time to sit and watch them but there's NOTHING else on. We only have the basic channels. :( I also love reality shows. My new favorites are the one about the Duggars and Toddlers and Tiaras. I love to watch crazy people.
15. People always say their spouse is their best friend, but Matt actually is mine! We have tons of inside jokes and usually know what the other is thinking.
16. I love to read. Patricia Cornwell and Jodi Picoult are my favorite authors. I own every Kay Scarpetta book ever written and I got Matt hooked on them as well!
17. I am applying to the Counseling graduate program at NNU if I stop being lazy and mail the stupid application!
18. I love to go to Target and just walk around. Even if it's the same stuff I saw the day before.
19. Paiton was the greatest plan Matt and I ever made!
20. I graduated in 4 years with a degree in Psychology and Human Biology. My favorite class was the anatomy one where we worked on a dead body. Love it! For the longest time I wanted to be a Medical Examiner like Kay Scarpetta when I was younger.
21. Every morning I make a frappucino with the mix I got from Cash N Carry. It's delicious.
22. Almost every day I melt a bag of ice by leaving it out after I make my drink. When I realize it it's because I have stepped in a huge puddle of water on my wood floor!
23. I sing to Paiton all day long. I make up stories about what she's wearing, what we're doing, where we're going, etc., because I think it will help her learn words and be smart when she grows up.
24. Matt and I both have a crush on Carrie Underwood :)
25. I could sit and stare at Paiton for hours and hours and hours. Sometimes that's all I do. She amazes me!

Huggies SUCK!

Here is my blog for the day: DON'T BUY HUGGIES EVER. I was told Huggies Newborns suck, and they did. But mom and I found a stellar clearance sale on regular Huggies and stocked up before P was even here. DON'T DO IT!!
We have had many a poop explosion in them. Most recently - Sunday morning we went out to Little Kitchen for breakfast as we often do on the weekends. Paiton was really fussy so we took turns walking her around. When Matt passed her off to me noticed poop all over her! There was no where to change her! I ended up balancing her on a folding chair in the hallway in front of the restaraunt trying to change her, luckily I had a clean pair of pajamas with me to put her in. It was a disaster!!
This morning she woke up and ate and we did our normal routine, play in bed, practice smiling and cooing, etc. I get her up and ready to get dressed. When I take her out of her snuggle blanket I notice POOP EVERYWHERE!!!! AGH!! So it became bath time instead of dress time! I am so tired of these stupid poop explosions. I switched to Luvs today because I also had a pack of those. Hopefully the problem will not continue...I'm tired of being covered in poop! Oh and I didn't get a chance to do her pictures yet...hopefully soon...

An update...

Here is a quick update on how Baby P is doing:
-She is a very big girl and is SO good at holding her head up. She has been doing this for a few weeks but now is fantastic at it!
-She is a roly poly! It takes her awhile but she is able to roll from belly to back and from back to belly.
-She is a burrow-er. She likes to have her face buried in something, a pillow or my neck both do just fine! This makes me nervous and I don't let her do it, but I think it's funny she likes to so much!
-She is a MUCH happier baby these days. She hardly ever cries. When she does it's usually b/c she's poopy or hungry. She is a very good, sweet girl.

I am sure I will think of more but wanted to get some stuff put up. Tomorrow I am going to do another set of pictures with her and this weekend we are having family pictures done! Yay! So check back for some 10 1/2 week pictures!! :)

Hair cut!!!

I finally got my hair cut!! Yay!! She cut about 8 inches off, just a couple inches short of donating it Locks of Love! If I would have realized that I would have waited a couple months! Oh well, it needed to be done! Here it is, my mom hair. Cami says it makes me look 30.

Workout vs. Flab

Today Paiton and I went for a walk/jog. It is actually fairly hard to jog with a baby in the Bjorn! Her head was going all over the place. I eventually gave up and ended up lunging instead of jogging. Oh boy did that burn! Bikini season here I come! :) Although it wasn't much fun and I'm not really one for working out. I'm debating how important it is to me. I already have a husband so I'm pretty sure a little extra flab won't kill anyone ;)

It was very chilly so here we are bundled up to go out.
Pai has a cool snow outfit from Nana that is a bit too big but we put it to use today!

Sch-wing!

My little bubblegum got a new swing this week! We had one that she loved but we got it used and apparently we got jipped. It rarely actually would swing. Most of the time I'd look over to check on her and she'd just be sitting in it which made me feel really guilty.
So I told Matt that I couldn't take not having a swing - it's the only thing that gets me 5 minutes of freedom. Well, that and the Bjorn but that's not really "freedom". So we headed out. We found a cute one at Babies R Us after striking out at Target and Walmart. Then we found a less cute one on clearance. We have a winner! It has actually grown on me and I like it more now. I am proud to say I built it all by myself while Matt was at work one day. Pai loves it!! It's the kind that can swing both the cradle way and the regular swing way and it's very comfy looking. I am tempted to crawl into it and snuggle with her! Here are a few pictures of her new toy:

Pai also got a new jacket and when I got her dressed I decided she looked a little Thug Life so we had to take pictures of that as well! The purple binky completes the outfit.

Right now we are dealing with a cold :( Poor baby. Yesterday I looked over and she was just covered in boogers. She had been rubbing her little arms and hands all over her and face. Her eyes were all red and watery and she couldn't stop coughing and sneezing. I think it was the most pitiful thing I've seen in all my life! She seems to be doing better today, hang in there little Paiton!!

Stacie and Jared

Yesterday Paiton met her Aunt Stacie and Uncle Jared for the first time! She was very excited to get to see them. Jared was a little nervous about holding her for fear he'd drop her! Needless to say we forced him to and he did just fine! NO dropping at all! Then Aunt Stacie got her turn and Paiton just loved her.
We are so happy that they got to see our precious baby. Paiton can't wait to have a little girl cousin to play and be best friends with!



Jared even got a quick "How to change a baby girl's diaper" lesson from Matt! Way to go Daddy!

Yay for the weekend! Matt is off Monday (Thank you Martin Luther King) so we have a 3 day weekend! Woohoo! Gotta love the school schedule!

Paiton's bath

We took this super cute video of Paiton in her bathtub last night (her 9 week birthday :)). She learned a new trick. She figured out that if she pushes hard with her feet she can scoot her little bath sling around. Too cute. She is smart I keep telling you! Today she was kind of fussy but I did discover that if I put her in the Bjorn and we booty shake to the radio she enjoys it! She really likes the rap ;) Probably because I danced all the time when she was in my belly. She's obviously my little girl!! :)
So here is the video. WARNING: There's a really cute naked little baby in this video! She will be so embarrassed when she's older!! Be sure to avert any little boy's eyes (Cadon, Corbin, Wes ;))

Favorite time of day

I have some cute pictures I took this morning of Paiton sleeping. My very favorite time of the day is early in the morning. Our alarm goes off around 5:45 and Paiton eats right around then. Then she usually falls back asleep for a little while. I love just watching her all curled up in our bed sleeping away. She is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Sometimes it's hard being a new family but all those sleepless nights, all the screaming, the constantly smelling like milk and baby vomit, it's all worth it. My favorite thing to do is snuggle this sleeping angel. I love smelling her milky breath and I love when she reaches out and holds onto my shirt while she sleeps. I love watching her tiny little body all curled up and I love when she wakes up, arches her back, and stretches out. I love weekend mornings when our little family is snuggled up in bed together. Paiton is truly our angel and we are so thankful to have her in our lives. I hope if you don't have kids you will one day so that you can see what it truly feels like to love unconditionally.

Shots!

So Paiton had her shots yesterday. She was such a good girl. First they weighed her and she weighs 11 lbs. 2 oz. That's exactly 2 pounds more than her one month check up! Good girl P! She is also 22 inches long! She is growing, that's for sure! The doctor (who we love and is AMAZING) looked her over and said that she is doing just great. She asked about tummy time and I told her that we do it but Pai hates it! She put her on her tummy and was amazed at how strong Paiton is! She can push herself up with her arms already. I told you all my baby is a genius! :) Then it was shot time....She got one medication orally, then she had three shots!! Two in one leg, one in the other. It was so sad. She was laying on the table just sucking on her binky as innocent as can be and then WHAM! Needle stabs! And they are not gentle at all! It broke my heart. She made the absolute saddest face I have ever seen in my life and then the tears came! :( Poor baby. But she only cried for a few minutes and then we got her dressed and off we went. She slept most of the day. I had to wake her up to feed her b/c she just kept sleeping!! Matt and I went to eat after her shots because we were both starving and she just slept and slept! Then on our way home we stopped by a coffee shop to see Nana Kathy, Grandma, and Janet. Then we came home and laid around on the couch all night!
I am also happy to announce that I am getting my hair chopped off! I totally understand why people do this when they have kids. I DO NOT have time to straighten it or do it at all, when I feed Paiton there's hair falling her face and her mouth, and now that she knows it's there she loves to grab it and give it a good yank! So as soon as Angie is back to work on Friday I am making an appointment and off goes the hair!! If you have any suggestions - let me know!!
I also have an update on my acceptance into the Master's program at BSU. I had to decide yesterday whether I was going to start the program in the fall or not. After talking with the department and with Matt I decided that I had to pass up the opportunity. The program is not as flexible as BSU makes it sound - in fact it's not flexible at all! I would have to attend class or training five days a week for two years! Which would mean Paiton would be in daycare five days a week which is something I refuse to do for personal and financial reasons! Plus that leaves me no time to work! So I am pretty irritated since I feel I was mislead about their "flexibility". But it will be ok, I really think it's their loss, not mine. I am going to look into the programs at NNU instead, they actually ARE flexible! Stupid BSU! Grrr....
I have a few pictures from yesterday to upload but right now I need to get ready for the day while Paiton is sleeping, otherwise it may never happen!

Happy 2 Months Pai!!

HAPPY 2 MONTH BIRTHDAY PAITON LOLA!!!
Today Paiton is 2 months old! I can't believe it. In some ways it seems like she was just born yesterday, in other ways it seems like she's been here forever. It is still crazy to me that I have a baby!! I can't believe that she is finally here and is the best baby in the world. She has had an AMAZING last few days with very little to no crying!! What a big girl she's turning into. She is the most beautiful and fun baby anyone could ask for. Sorry to anyone else, but there is no way there can ever be a baby as perfect as P! She has the best little personality. She smiles ALL THE TIME and laughs at us.
The other day she felt hot to me so I put her binky thermometer in her mouth to take her temp. Well it beeps when it's done and she was pretty fussy that day so she's sucking on her binky kind of wimpering and it gets done and beep beep beeps. Well apparently that was hilarious to P. She started cracking up! It was the cutest thing I've ever seen!
Today we have to take Paiton to get her two month shots :( What a birthday present!! Poor baby. So wish us luck. I had a little talk with her this morning and explained that we are just trying to keep her safe and not to be mad. We'll see if she listened. ;) Matt is going to try and get off work early so he can come with us! He better b/c it is going to be really hard for me to have to watch her get stabbed and crying by myself!! Then we'll come home and snuggle her to make her feel better! We even have some celebration Martinelli's for her birthday!!
Hopefully today is as a good a day as we have been having. Last night I didn't sleep very well so I am not prepared for a bad day! :\ At about 3:15 some "unknown" number called Matt's cell phone! Only bad news comes in the middle of the night so I was really nervous about it. He didn't answer it and went back to sleep. I stayed awake waiting for it to ring again or for mine to ring but nothing happened. Then at 4 Paiton woke up to eat and I just couldn't get back to sleep. So I have been up since 3:15! Oh joy! :\ What a bummer! Early to bed tonight I guess!
Yesterday at Babies R Us P and I ran into Lisa Newhouse, one of my oldest and dearest friends! She is expecting a baby in April (who isn't, honestly) and it was sooo good to see her and her precious baby bump and her mom, Linda! I love them to death! Well, I'll update later on how Baby P's shots go!
WE LOVE YOU PAI. WE COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A MORE PERFECT LITTLE GIRL.

On Thursday Matt, Paiton and I had to venture over to Mom and Dad's to say goodbye to Cadon and Carissa. Early Friday morning they headed back to Virginia. It was a very sad night. We love Cadon like he is our own and we will miss him so so so SO much. I can't wait until March when we will go to Virginia to see Brandon come home and will get to see Cadon again!! I am so excited.

On Friday night we went to Nana Kathy's and had a delicious dinner of lasagna and visited with Nana and Great Grandma Doris. Nana even watched Pai so that Matt and I could go relax in the hot tub. It was GLORIOUS!! If I could live in a hot tub, I probably would!!

I have one last funny Cadon story to share! He has a doll that he loves to take care of that he got for Christmas whose name is also Baby P :). Well on Thursday he wanted me to play catch with him by throwing the doll. So we did and he was doing really good catching the baby. Well then he put the doll on the ground, pointed to Paiton and with his cute little lisp said "Frow Baby P!" Haha. I was cracking up. But no, I did not throw the real Baby P to him :)
