Spring Break

This has been Matt's Spring Break week.
{I like to tease him that people with "real" jobs don't get a spring break. But really I am just teasing him. He works harder than most people I know, long hours with little reward, and with the most impossible group of kids, so he DEFINITELY deserves a spring break, and we've been happy to have him home!}

Unfortunately the weather has been BAD. Today was the first day it didn't rain all day. Boo. We wanted to do a lot of fun things, but instead took to eating out and watching movies. Lame.
Today was nice and tomorrow is supposed to be nicer!
Paiton enjoyed playing in the backyard:
She sure loves these dogs, which is about the only reason they're still living at my house! ;)
This is Paiton showing me where Baby Quinn is and that he is kicking:
She believes she also has a Quinn in her tummy and he often "kicks" her :) It's very cute.

We have big plans for tomorrow!! We are going to head to Boise and spend the day getting some lunch, going to the zoo, and going to ride the paddle boats!! I am sooo excited! Paiton loves the zoo, and I love the paddle boats! I think P will really like them too! Tomorrow night we are going to have a BBQ with some friends - yay for good weather!! :)
Here are just a few pictures from the last little while:
P loves to pick out her own clothes and usually doesn't do too bad a job:
Aunt Rhonda bought her these flip flops when she was just a tiny baby. I have been waiting anxiously for them to fit her, and they do now!!
She LOVES flip flops and "sparkle shoes" so these are a huge hit!
More sparkle flip flops:
Her hair is SO long. You can't really tell until she's in the bath and it's wet, but this also shows that it's getting so long!
I was very excited that Matt would get to go watch Paiton at dance class, but they didn't have it due to Spring Break, and we missed it last week because of Paiton's sleep study, so she is very eager to get back to dance next week!! We also will be starting swimming lessons this week! She will go every Tuesday and Thursday night. I guess the days of being a chauffeur start young!! :) She has been dying to go swimming and I didn't do them during the winter like I had planned so I figured we better do it now before Quinn gets here! Her last lesson is actually the day after he will be born, so I am hoping Nannie or maybe Titi would be interested in taking her to get her certificate and take pictures for me! :)
I think that's it for what's going on here! Just waiting for nicer weather and more outside play time! Paiton loves to play outside and especially loves to swing! We are looking forward to a summer filled with park trips, trips to Roaring Springs, bon fires, BBQ's, walks, and lots of swinging!!
(And don't miss the 34 week update either under this or a page back!)

34 Weeks

Yesterday marked the 34th week of pregnancy! I still am thinking that this pregnancy is dragging on and not going by quickly at all, and although I am getting tired of being pregnant, I really want/need all the time we have left!!
I have started having little panic attacks about having 2 kids!! Life with Paiton is so great and I like that it's just her and I during the day. It is hard trying to work and get things done all while entertaining her with no help while Matt's at work, but I love that time with her and I love that we do everything together. I hope that adding a brother won't ruin the dynamic.
I am still trying to get their room in order. I did get all the clothes I have washed, folded, and put away. Need to get some furniture moved in their room though and that will be Matt's job :) Then I need to hang some more stuff up and things like that.
My induction date has officially been set with the hospital for May 4th. Everyone says that sounds like a good birthday, so I guess it will work ;) I am still a little nervous about having him a week early, but my doctor assures me that for Quinn and I it will be better than having him late. So I trust her!
It is weird to know when he will be born (unless he comes early - which YIKES I hope not!!) One of my friends pointed out to me that it is nice to know. She said she spent the day before her induction cleaning her house really good, shaving her legs, painting her toes, taking a bath, and taking a nap. Then she was ready to go in and have a baby. Sounds good to me so I think that will be my plan as well!
Here is my 34 week picture:

Paiton and "her" Quinn. She is very protective of him already and doesn't like anyone but her to touch him or talk to him!
Matt frequently gets told to stop touching "her" Quinn!! ;)

Let's see if I have anything else exciting and pregnancy related to write about. Basically the same old - terrible heartburn that is getting worse {even though I didn't think that was possible!} Today I couldn't eat because my heartburn was so bad. I have taken to just carrying my Mylanta bottle around and drinking out of it. Not joking. My ribs are still really bad, but I know that neither the ribs nor the heartburn will be relieved until he is born so 5 more weeks of this it is!! Pregnancy insomnia is setting in and I spend a lot of time most nights playing on my phone and killing time.
The positives are that I do love to feel Quinn moving in there, and I love to watch my stomach when he really goes crazy. He apparently loves popcorn, when we were eating it the other night he went nuts!
Mostly I am trying to make the most of this time I have left with my only child and at least there being peace and quiet when I'm awake at night, instead of a screaming baby! ;)
My shower is next weekend and I'm soooooo excited!! It can't come soon enough!! :)
You are now caught up on my 34th week of pregnancy!

Tangled Tuesday!!

Yesterday was a big day in the Locke house!! :) It was Taco Tuesday - one of our favorite restaurants has cheap tacos and we like to go eat there on Tuesdays. And it was also....
TANGLED TUESDAY!!!
Tangled is probably Paiton's favorite movie of all time. I took her to see it in theaters a few times because she liked it so much. My mom (so very kindly) thought to pre-order it a few months ago for us, but it didn't come in time! Matt and I frantically searched the RedBox website yesterday and EVERY single Redbox in a 50 mile radius was sold out! Luckily Matt was quick on his feet and just bought it through the Playstation!
Paiton waited anxiously ALL day long. She was very patient but didn't stop talking about it at all! She knew from the moment she woke up what day it was and was very eager to have her "Tangled Slumber Party".
She insisted on going all out - had to have the fire place on, blankets and pillows down on the floor, the works! She got to pick the snacks for the movie and she picked popcorn and fruit snacks! :)
It's almost time!!
We took a break to make popcorn (which resulted in a small air popper fire, but everything was under control!)
Fruit snacks time!
P really enjoyed watching the movie upside down on Daddy's belly for some reason!
We had a lot of fun, and just like the times before, the movie was GREAT. It was Matt's first time seeing it and he liked it too! He was singing to Paiton last night to the tune of one of the songs but putting his own words in and she thought that was pretty hilarious!
Just a funny Paiton story - yesterday we were driving in the car and Paiton was singing as she usually does. Then she told Matt "You sing Twinkle Twinkle while I sing ABC's" and for the rest of the car ride they sang those songs at the same time, which Paiton thought was awesome. And let's be honest, it was one of the funniest things I've ever heard. Matt and I were cracking up. The things this girl comes up with just kill me!!

Paiton or Ashley?

My Aunt Lori posted this picture yesterday on facebook and I had to share.
At first glance it looks JUST like Paiton. The pointing finger, the facial expression, everything except that my hair was a bit darker.
Cracks me up. Matt frequently comments on how Paiton is my little twin and I love finding pictures that show just how much she looks like me.
Aunt Rhonda's comment on the picture on Facebook:
Rhonda Lurcook-Riggs OMG.....I thought it was "P" until I saw the caption, I was just wondering where in Idaho she was sitting out by a pool?

=)

33 Week Picture

Because we kept forgetting to take a picture, here it is - late.
This is me at 33.75 weeks ;)
On Wednesday it will be only FIVE weeks until I get induced. YIKES.

Sleep Study

I got a call yesterday afternoon while I was at work that they had received the seizure equipment and it had been tested and calibrated in time for Paiton to go ahead and come in for her sleep study as scheduled. I was happy we could get it done, but it made my day a lot more crazy! I was at work and Paiton was at Barb's. My mom was going to pick her up already because I would be in a late meeting. We switched cars and she went to pick up Paiton so she would have my car seat and I went to my meeting. After the meeting I headed back to Nampa from Boise to get our stuff we would need for the night. When I got here I realized I didn't have my garage door opener and Mom had my keys so I couldn't get in the house. Matt was at parent teacher conferences and was on his dinner break. He didn't hear me calling his phone every 5 seconds so I had to just sit in the parking lot for 40 minutes and wait for him to get back so I could take his key. I finally got in the house and rushed to get everything together!
I was so nervous about the study and how she would do that I had decided earlier to buy her some things and spoil her and try to make the night as "fun" as possible. I bought her some new Tinkerbell jammies, a couple new movies, and some little snacks.
I picked her up from my mom's and tried to get her excited about our big night. I let her pick somewhere to go for dinner and told her we would be having a slumber party. She wanted to go to McDonald's for dinner so we did and then we headed to the hospital. We had to check in at 7:30 pm. We got there and a really nice lady told us she would be the one watching all night. She took us back to our room, which looked like a little hotel room. The drawers were full of games and toys for kids, including a Diego matching game that Paiton LOVED and was really good at. She let P play for awhile and get used to the room. Then she left to get the stuff ready and I got P ready for bed. She was excited to wear her new pajamas and to have a slumber party. She wanted to watch her Tinkerbell movie so I put it in and the lady came in to hook her up to everything. I braced myself for a major meltdown but this kid SHOCKED me. She was amazing. She sat in the chair and let the lady draw all over her head and then stick tons of stickers and wires all over her head, chest, and legs. She kept asking me "Am I ok?" and I would reassure her she was. She also kept telling us "I'm so brave. I'm just such a big girl!" :) I took pictures of her throughout the process on my phone and showed them to her and she thought it was pretty funny. I told her I was so proud of her and she went through a long list of people that would be proud of her "Daddy would be very proud of me! Nannie would be so proud. Papa is proud of me. Cadon is proud of me. Ry Ry is proud of me." and on and on! It was very sweet and I have to admit my eyes kept watering because I WAS so proud of her and she was doing awesome even though she had no idea what was going on.
After we got her all hooked up (which took FOREVER - a couple hours at least) I got her tucked in the bed and snuggled with her. By then we were on to watching Despicable Me and she finally fell asleep after 10 pm.
Once she was asleep the lady came back in to add one last thing - it was like the oxygen things they stick in your nose, but it was to measure her breaths and make sure she didn't have times where she stopped breathing while sleeping. This immediately woke her up and made her SOOOO mad. She didn't like having the thing in her nose and also didn't like that it interfered with her binky and made her not able to keep it in. The lady trimmed the nose things but it was still all downhill from here. She finally took it off and let me get Paiton to sleep again. When she finally calmed down and got back to sleep the lady came in and put it in again. That of course woke her up again and this time I just had to torture her and hold her arms down so she couldn't pull it out. That was a nightmare. It took over an hour of me holding her down to get her to calm down. I finally got her binky balanced so she could have it too but the night was pretty much shot. She hated that thing in her nose and just couldn't get comfortable. She was up at least every 30 minutes just crying and asking me to take it out of her nose. It absolutely broke my heart. The longest stretch that she was asleep was from 4:30 this morning until 6 am when they came to wake her up. I am just hoping that they got enough data or the data that they needed. She was not a happy camper being woken up so early and then having stickers yanked out of her hair and off her face! We left the ones on her chest and legs so that I could get them off easier in a bath. The ones from her face left little welts from being pulled off :( We got booted after that and when we got home after 7 am I got P back to sleep and she slept until 10:30! I couldn't go to sleep because it was too light out, so it's a good thing I'm used to not sleeping because I haven't since Wednesday night!
Here are the pictures I took with my phone to document the process:
A shot of the room we stayed in (there was a queen bed and also another twin bed in the corner):
In her jammies, snuggling with gator, watching her movie:
Getting hooked up - First they put "belts" around her chest and belly:
The lady had to go through and mark dozens of spots on Paiton's head for where the wires had to connect to so she had red marker all over her!
Getting the "stickers" on her legs:
Time to do the head!! Such a big girl!
Trying to keep her attention off what was going on and more on Tinkerbell!
Silly hat to help the stickers stay on!
All hooked up and in bed!
This picture kind of breaks my heart, she looks so tiny:
So sweet and right before we turned off the lights:
And here are a couple from her bath today. She was not thrilled with the rest of the stickers that had to be pulled off but she was SO brave (as she kept telling us) and we got it all taken care of!
Isn't she beautiful!?

One last picture I almost forgot - the lady took it of Paiton last night to show all her wires and stuff. This morning she had printed it out for Paiton to take home:
I told Matt that for as much as this is going to cost us I think we should have been served breakfast in bed and been allowed to sleep in. I guess a picture printed on computer paper is just as good ;)
I was told it will be about 2 weeks before we hear anything, so now we wait!

Update

I got a call from the hospital today. They had to reschedule Paiton's sleep study. :\ Although I wasn't looking forward to it, I was definitely ready to get it over.
The doctor ordered a special type of seizure monitoring that isn't typically done, so they had to order the machine for it. The machine didn't show up in time for her to get the sleep study done tomorrow. Apparently the doctor thinks this is a really important thing to rule out and that it may be what's causing the trouble, so she won't do the sleep study without it. We had talked about this but neither Matt nor I knew a special test was being ordered or that it was such a concern that it could be seizures. Paiton has now been put on the "rush" list and tentatively scheduled for April 6, but if the machine comes in sooner than that she will be moved up and takes precedence over other patients.
So now we are a little (lot) more worried and just hoping the machine shows up on time.
Please be thinking of Paiton and cross your fingers the machine shows up sooner than later and we can get this taken care of and seizures ruled out.

33 Weeks!

I am 33 weeks pregnant with little QJ today!! (And I just decided QJ looks too much like OJ, eh, it was worth a shot.)
I had a check up today and Paiton, of course, was so helpful. They don't even have to tell her what to do anymore. She knows which button to push to take my blood pressure (which unlike with P has been PERFECT this whole pregnancy! Woot woot!), she pulls out the measuring tape and then pushes the button to suck it back in after they measure my belly (measuring right on track) and she knows which button to push when the doctor is ready to listen to Quinn's heartbeat (150 today). She loves being able to help so much!
My appointment went well, everything is fine. She said I am on the absolute maximum dose of heartburn medicine I can take, which really bummed me out because it has been absolutely terrible the last few nights. I feel like my esophagus is just destroyed from all the acid. She said maybe he'll come out with a lot of hair like Paiton based on the old wives tale! :) I hope so!!
She felt him and said that he is already head down and ready to go, which I figured. She said that the major pain in my right ribs is from his little bum being shoved right on up there! Since I have such a short torso he is curled up, head down, butt in right ribs, and feet in left ribs and left side. That's what is pushing my ribs out so far! Not much to do about that except get him out!
Speaking of getting him out....Dr. Jones suggested today that I be induced on May 4, a week exactly before my due date. I know I have posted before that I don't think it's right to be induced early just for the heck of it, I'd rather my babies stay in and cook and get all cute and chubby! But after talking with Dr. Jones she seems to think it would be better that Quinn come early rather than late. As I mentioned before, I am having him at a hospital she doesn't typically deliver at, so I'll be her only patient there, which would mean that if I were to go into labor on my own she may be at the other hospital delivering and not be able to make it on time. I really want her to be the one to deliver him. Also Paiton got stuck coming out and had to be vacuumed out. She was totally average size, but since I am small it was just hard for her to come out on her own. Dr. Jones is just afraid that we may have more complications that could result in a c-section - which I do NOT want! So anyway, after discussing it with her she made me feel better in having him a week early. This is not set in stone, they still have to call and schedule the induction at the hospital and there is no guarantee that they will have an opening for that day, but I will find out more at my next appt. in two weeks.
If that is the case then that leaves me with only 6 weeks to get things ready for this kid! Yikes! Better get a move on. I have blankets, burp rags, and nursing covers to sew, things to buy, and a room to somehow get all settled and figured out!! Let the time crunch begin! :)

In other news tomorrow night (Thursday) is Paiton's sleep study!! I am nervous for a variety of reasons - the poor child has been nothing but tortured by doctors her entire life so I know she is not going to be a happy camper about this! I also worry that she will magically have a great night and not have any night terrors, wake ups, etc. Not that I like her having them, but without them they won't be getting the data they need on her!! That would definitely be our luck! So cross your fingers and watch for an update!

I got PUNK'd!

Another funny Paiton story I have to share!!
Last night we were eating dinner and Paiton started saying to me "Hey Mom, shut...." and I didn't understand what she was asking, so I kept saying "What?" and she would reply "Hey Mom, shut...." and just stare at me.
Finally I apparently fell into the trap:
Paiton: Hey Mom, shut....
Me: What?? Shut what?
Paiton: HEY MOM! SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!! HAHAHA!!!
I about spit all the food in my mouth out and had to turn away. It was rude, but it was FUNNY. Matt started telling Pation that she needs to talk nicely and not say those things or not talk. Then he told her she needed apologize to me and she responded "I can't, my mouth is shut!"
This girl is T-R-O-U-B-L-E!! She did eventually feel bad and apologize to me. I don't think she was trying to be mean, she is just TOO smart for words. We are definitely the underdogs in the Raising Paiton game!! :)

This next story has nothing to do with anything, I just think it's funny. Paiton has a Dora house that has little dolls of all the characters. One of the characters is her grandfather, Papi. For whatever reason Paiton LOVES that Papi doll. Meanwhile, Matt and I think he is super creepy. Anyway, the other day Paiton left Papi in our bathroom, so I put him somewhere Matt would fine him and think was creepy. Since then we have gone back and forth putting Papi in creepy places for the other to find, it's been a pretty fun game :) However I do have to say that today Matt wins.
I pulled back the shower curtain to get in the shower and this is what I found:
Papi creepin' on my loofa!!! Haha!! I started laughing and took a picture. When Paiton heard me she ran in and said "Oh! My Papi! I missed you!" Haha, guess the hiding game is over and I declare Matt the champ!! :)

Netflix

Just a funny Paiton story I wanted to share before I forget.
The other day Paiton was sitting on her potty while I was getting ready. She was playing with the iPod and we had the following conversation:
Paiton: Mom, can you turn on Diego on the iPod?
Me: No, you can't watch movies on the iPod.
Paiton: Yes you can, can you put on Diego?
Me: Paiton, no. I don't think you can do that.

I then went to put on my make up. When I came back out I heard the Diego music coming from the iPod. I looked and sure enough, Diego was playing on the iPod.

Me: Paiton! How did you get Diego to play on there?
Paiton: (looks at me like I'm an idiot) Umm....I just went to Netflix.

Well, there you have it.

32 weeks

Yesterday we hit the 32 week mark! Officially 2 months to go! Yikes! That doesn't seem like very long when I think about everything we have to do before Quinn gets here! I have loooong list of projects to get done, including the babies room and lots of things to sew! Our April calendar is packed - the 2nd is Kylie's birthday, the 3rd is Matthew's fiancee's bridal shower, the 10th is my baby shower, the 12th is Ryan's birthday, then we have family coming to visit from California for Matthew's wedding on the 30th (and we will have a house full of Wiesner girls!! Yay!!!!)! Then it's time to sit back and wait for Quinn! Whoa!
Here is my 32 week picture:
Made Matt move his finger off the flash:
32 week update:....not much! Not too much has changed. I have a check up next week, and then I think I'll have another one 2 weeks later, and then be on to going every week! My ribs and heartburn still prove to be the biggest problems. Nothing helps the heartburn so I sleep propped up most nights. My ribs just kill me every day no matter what I do and I'm REALLY getting tired of that! I'm just too short and Quinn doesn't have anywhere to go! Other than that things are fine, same old!
I have to brag about Paiton! She is doing SO good with potty training! I can't remember the last time she had an accident, it's been days! She is doing great and only wearing big girl panties!! We are so SO proud of her!! :)
Here are just a couple pictures of that cute girl:
Pouting:
On Tuesday I used the gift certificate to a spa called Rain that Matt's dad gave me for Christmas. I got a prenatal massage. My sister in law, Stacie, had gotten one last week, and told me the lady that did hers was awesome, so I asked for the same lady. She WAS awesome! I told Matt I wanted to leave him and marry her! ;) She used hot stones and it was fabulous. I told her I have always had a bad back and I just really needed her to rub as hard as she could, but she wouldn't! There are certain trigger points that have been shown to induce labor and she was worried about that, but it still felt good. I had asked her to see if she could do anything about my ribs (they are so bad that I have to push on them and pop them throughout the day, so gross!) But she said since it's more just bone and cartilage there wasn't much she could do. She did try pressing on them but it hurt so bad I just told her to forget it! She also couldn't really do my feet because of the same labor inducing pressure points, so instead she gave me a good foot soak after my massage! She took me back to a little room with a fireplace and I got to wear a big robe and drink water and soak my feet in some HOT peppermint water. Sooo nice! It was awesome, thanks Chris!!!! Stacie swears that this lady helped induce her labor by doing the pressure points and using special oils, so I went ahead and booked another massage for right around my due date! I had one with Paiton to try and induce labor and it didn't do a thing, but this lady told me it almost always works when she does it, so I'll give her a shot! :)
Then Wednesday Matt's school had a diaper shower for us! He couldn't be there for it except for the first 5 minutes because he had to coach tennis practice, but Paiton and I got to go open some presents!! It was fun!
One of the teachers apparently also owns a cupcake business, and she made these cupcakes:
They were so good! I had a chocolate one, it had chocolate frosting and chocolate ganache in the middle!!!! Delicious and just my style! :)
Here is our loot:
In total we got 8 packages of diapers, a diaper cake, 3 packages of wipes, 2 gift cards, and some other little things! It was very nice of all the teachers that participated! So fun!
After the shower we headed over to watch the end of tennis practice. We got there and Paiton told me "I want to run with the team!" Well, when you tell your dad you want the team to run and your dad is the coach, the team runs!! ;) Paiton did get to join them!
Also earlier this week we met our friends, Christine, Corbin, and Kinlee to play at McDonald's to play. It was a lot of fun and Paiton and Corbin had fun together! I had never been inside this particular McDonald's but it had cool toys! And it was very popular with the toddler crowd at lunch time! Thanks Christensen's - let's do it again soon!!
And this is just a cute picture I took of a sleepy baby!
So sweet. =) It's too bad it's such hard work to get her to this stage!!! ;)
