Big Girl Bath!

Today Paiton took a bath in her big girl bathtub for the first time! We put it in our bathtub and at first she wasn't too sure what to think of it. Once she realized it was nice and warm and relaxing she decided it was something she could live with! She is just too cute. Towards the end when I washed her hair she got mad again and started shivering - so sad!! But here she is - our little bathing beauty!!

I just have to take pictures of her little face. She has the sweetest face I've ever seen.

Pai's Slideshow

Ok everyone, it's finally here! I had to delete the actual videos that were in it to get it to fit, but it fits now!! I hope you enjoy it! Make sure to turn your sound on so you can hear Paiton's song :)

Thanksgiving.

Well Paiton had a good first Thanksgiving! It was a lot of fun. We woke up in the morning and waited for the parade to start on TV. Paiton's favorite part was the Little Mermaid Broadway performance and the cheerleaders =)
Then we headed over to Mom and Dad's and hung out there for awhile. Mom and I got the food ready to eat and then we all went over to Grandma and Grandpa's! The food was delicious! It was fun to have everyone there - Mom, Dad, Carissa, Cadon, Spencer, Cami, Grandma, Grandpa, Ashley, Matt, Paiton, Amy, Thomas, Dane, Aunt Lisa, Matthew (it was his birthday!), his girlfriend Sara, and Uncle Tim stopped by to eat because he had to work.
We got busy eating right away and then Aunt Lisa had brought some craft stuff for us to do. It was a lot of fun! I didn't get to finish my second craft because I had a screaming baby but Aunt Lisa finished it for me! :) Paiton enjoyed Thanksgiving but the not the accompanying tummy ache =( We had a long night as the screaming started about 8 pm and didn't let up until almost midnight. We decided not to go shopping this morning this year because there are just no good sales! What a disappointment the ads were. I think we might head out tonight and check out Target after the rush has died down, but mostly I think the stores this year sucked at putting out good sales!
Paiton is now officially two weeks old!! Crazy! She is just as cute as ever and we are so thankful that she's here and healthy!!

Here is our little Thanksgiving family
Dad was snuggling Paiton so Cadon decided he should have something to snuggle too and had Carissa wrap up his little bear in a blankey. Too cute!!
Paiton's Thanksgiving outfit that her daddy picked out special just for her!!
Streeeeeetching when Mommy woke her up on Thanksgiving!

The girls with their ornaments Aunt Lisa helped us make. It was so fun! Matt got very tired after we ate.
Dane and Cadon playing together. This was after they spent ten minutes trying to see who could scream the loudest. That was a fun game.
Daddy and Baby :)
The boys playing again.

Two weeks tomorrow!!

HAPPY TWO WEEK BIRTHDAY PAITON!
I don't think I'll have time to post tomorrow since it's Thanksgiving, but Pai will be TWO WEEKS old tomorrow! That's just crazy! That means that two weeks ago tonight I went into labor in Walmart, I can't even believe that she's here and I'm finally NOT PREGNANT!! :)
I hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving. We are really excited to have our first holiday with our little angel. Paiton has a very special outfit to wear tomorrow. We took her to the mall last night for the first time and Daddy found an outfit that he loved in Gymboree and nothing was going to stop him from buying it. So tomorrow Paiton will be dressed in a little outfit her daddy picked out and bought for her :)
She will be so cute so check back later this week for pictures!!
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday P!!!

Beautiful.

Today our little beauty is 11 days old! It's hard to believe that it's already been 11 days! We survived our first day alone! We were very busy. Paiton had a doctor's appointment this morning and she now weighs 7 pounds 14 ounces! Wow! She has gained 13 ounces in a week! What a big girl! She is a very good little eater. They also took some blood from her heel which did NOT make her happy :( I ended up having to feed her in the backseat of my car in the parking lot just to get her to calm down!
This hat we bought for Paiton at the farmers market this summer before she was even born. It is so cute and she looks so cute in it. I didn't make her wear it but I wanted to see how it looked and it looked so dang cute I couldn't help but take some pictures. This is seriously the single most beautiful girl in the world. There is no cuter and there never could be!!

Look at this smile....!!
So we had a good first day and Matt was sooo happy to see us after work! We msised daddy a lot today and are definitely looking forward to tomorrow being his last day of work this week!! Yay!! I hope everyone enjoys the pictures of our gorgeous babe!!

Our first day alone!

Well Paiton and I have started our first day alone! We're actually doing just fine. Hopefully we keep doing fine! Although I have run into a little problem, I don't know what I'm supposed to do when I need to go to the bathroom or take a shower. What do I do with the baby!? I think I will be calling my mom on this one. I would really like to shower before we go out in public...I am thinking I will put her in her swing and drag her swing into the bathroom? I don't really see any other option! Hmm.....there's just so much to learn when you have a baby!
So far so good though. Pai is changed and fed and is laying here next to me on the couch wrapped in her snuggles swaddle blanket and laying on her Boppy pillow just as content as could be. Well she's content except for the fact that ever 2.5 seconds I kiss her all over her sweet little face! :o)
Last night my family came over, Matt made his famous ribs and the boys watched the 24 movie that was on TV. It was fun. Here is what Nana got to spend her night doing:
(Somehow I don't think she minded ;))

Here is a picture of our little family underneath the It's A Girl sign at Kathy and Chris' house. It was dark and FREEZING so we didn't get the It's A Girl part, but I was too cold to care!
Ok well my little squeaker is squaking at me so I better go cuddle her!

Umbilical Cord

We have an exciting announcement! Paiton's umbilical cord fell off yesterday. WOOHOO! To many this might sound weird, but to anyone who has had a baby, it's totally normal. We were so excited when that nasty little thing finally fell off. We always felt like we were bumping it or rubbing it and hurting P, so I'm glad it's gone :)
It is also Matt and I's 1 year 5 month anniversary today :) Yay. Another exciting milestone :) That's really all I have to post. Tomorrow Matt goes back to work :( :( :( :( I am NOT happy about this. I am really nervous to have Paiton all day all by myself. Plus we both have doctors appointments I have to get us to! Eek! I haven't drive since before I went into labor ten days ago. Tomorrow should definitely be interesting, although I"m really not looking forward to it :\

8 days old

Today Pai is 8 days old!!
This morning we headed to Matt's class where they were having a Thanksgiving Feast. It was delicious and all the kids and teachers loved seeing the baby. I carried Paiton in her sling for the first time and she LOVED it! Thanks Grandma Riggs. She likes being tight and snuggly, so I'm sure that's why she loved it. She did very good and slept in the sling and let Mommy eat some yummy food that Matt's class made!!
While Matt was at basketball practice baby and I had a photo shoot, but it didn't go too well. She hates being naked and was not amused when I took off all her clothes. I only got two good pictures out of the whole thing. Bummer. We'll keep trying. She's still too little right now I think. Anyway, look at how cute her feet are!! She still has little scabs on her feet from all her heel pricks :( Poor baby.

This is Paiton's one week old picture. She is very sweet. We tried to stay awake until 2:04 am so we could toast Martinelli's to her, but we fell asleep. However at 1:30 she woke us up so we ended up being awake anyway! Not awake enough for a toast, but awake enough to sing Happy Birthday :)
Pai's sweet bling binky from Nana Carol :)
The last couple of nights and mornings we have had severe screaming issues at our house! Poor little Pai has some stomach issues and this results in her shrieking for hours at a time until she calms down enough to go to sleep. It makes me feel so guilty that I can't do anything to make her feel better :( It's very sad. She has a check up on Monday, so we'll see if the doctor has any suggestions. The gas drops do nothing!
I have no idea why the beginning of this is underlined...weird. Anyway, that's my update for today :) I would also like to clarify, as Matt thinks one of my other posts makes him look bad. He was not focused on the pizza stuff at Walmart, I told him he had time to go find the stuff. So no, he didn't just make me stand there contracting in the middle of the store, although in my head I was thinking "hurry up already". But he is a great husband and daddy and did not make me suffer while he shopped for pizza toppings. :)

6 days old.

Paiton is 6 days old today! I can't believe that tomorrow she'll be a week old. It kind of feels like we've had her forever, and yet it also feels like she just came yesterday. We love this little baby more than is possible to describe. She has got the cutest little personality. She is seriously the most well behaved baby I've ever seen. When she is awake she is so attentive and smart. She loves to just look around and take everything in. When she is asleep she makes the cutest little faces and sounds. She loves her Boppy pillow, her daddy, her mommy, her binki, and her swaddle blanket.
Today I put her in her swing for the first time. She really liked it! Plus she looks super cute sitting in it =) It's weird because it is 6:00 pm right now and all I can think about is that EXACTLY one week ago today I was starting to have contractions right at this time. It's very weird. I can picture us being in Walmart and Matt trying to find stuff to make pizza and me being like "Are you kidding!? Hurry up!" and having contractions while paying and walking through the parking lot. The good news is is that we were at Walmart, so we totally fit in :)
Anyway I just wanted to share that little tidbit. A week ago I had no idea what it felt like to hold my little baby, we didn't have any idea what she looked like or anything about her. Now we know her cry, her little noises, what she does when she's frustrated, happy, gassy. Now she's my best friend in the world and my own little piece of me. She's laying on my lap right now just as content as can be and I couldn't be happier.
Here are just a couple more pictures.

Paiton - 5 days old. What a cute little binki face!!
First time in the swing. She loves it!!

5 days old

(OK this is posted a day late b/c the pictures wouldn't load)
Paiton is 5 days old today! I can't even believe it! She is so much fun. We have been doing pretty good. The first couple nights were a little rough, but she is a REALLY good baby. She sleeps a lot during the day, but when she's awake she is really fun. She is really attentive and looks around a lot and makes the cutest little faces.
Yesterday Paiton had her first bath (at home) and we went for our first outing! We went to her first doctor's appointment and the doctor said she is doing great! She had gained two ounces in two days! She's a good little eater. Everything else is good too! Then we went and visited Nana Carol at her work and showed off our little princess. Everyone loved her (of course!)
Last night the Lurcook's came over and Mom made dinner for all of us. It was spaghetti - my favorite - and it was delicious! Thanks mom! And Grandma made us no bake cookies - our other favorite! Yum yum. Then last night Paiton had an AWESOME night. She went to sleep about 9:30, then she woke up to get her diaper changed around 12:30 and ate. Then she didn't wake up again until 4:30 this morning - and that's only because I woke her up because I needed to feed her!! Then she slept until about 8:30 this morning. Then I think she only woke up because I was playing with her and taking her picture. Haha.
Today we headed to Babies R Us to exchange some things and get some things we needed. Grandpa Chris and Nana Kathy met us there. Grandpa Chris immediately took over stroller pushing duty. I think Paiton already has someone (ok lots of someones) tied around her little finger :)
Matt just left for basketball practice, leaving me and Paiton on our own for the first time, and we're doing ok!
I hope you all enjoy the pictures!

This is how P sleeps in bed with Matt and I. When she is like this she'll sleep for a full 7-8 hours if I don't wake her up. She won't sleep in her bassinet. Which is ok with me, I like having her next to me. This swaddle blanket from my friend Jodi is the greatest thing EVER. We had to buy a second one because she was in this one constantly and we needed a clean spare!
Cadon is his awesome new outfit!!
Cadon holding Paiton. He was very sweet and very gentle :)
Cadon holding the baby for the first time!
We had a little trouble getting Paiton into this outfit as you can tell...

Paiton's first bath at home

All wrapped up getting dried off Pretty sleeping baby! I didn't even pose her like this. She's just this cute!!
Sucking her thumb for the first time! This was like 3 in the morning so it was hard to get a good picture.

Birth Story and Pictures

I have a few minutes right now so I wanted to share our story with everyone! Here it is:
On Wednesday, November 12 I got a phone call from my mom saying that I was going to go into labor that day and to call her when I do! I told her not to jinx it and not to expect it! It was a normal day, I worked from home, raked some leaves, cleaned house, etc. After Matt's school got out he called and asked if I was bored. There were a couple basketball games at school that afternoon and he wanted to come pick me up and take me to watch. We went and ate some nachos and watched some middle school basketball. While we were there I had 2, maybe 3 little contractions, nothing major. We needed some groceries so Matt thought we should go walk around Wal Mart and see if anything progressed with the contractions. We did and as we were walking to the check out I immediately began having stronger contractions. There were consistently three minutes apart as we walked through the store. When we got to the car they were two minutes apart. I figured they'd fade away, as Dr. Jones had told me to come in when they were eight minutes apart, so surely they couldn't just start at two minutes apart! I called my mom and told her that we were going to go home and watch the CMA's and see what happened. We got home and they got really strong and painful. We hurried and put groceries away and headed to the hospital. When we got there Matt wheeled me up to L&D and the contractions were still two minutes apart but really strong and really painful. They checked me and I was dilated to a 2, not much progress since my appointment. They put me in the labor tub for about an hour, which helped, as did Matt helping me breathe through them and pushing on my hips. An hour into that they checked me again and I was still a 2. They ordered an epidural as they were going to try and dilate me by hand, which they told me would be really painful without an epi. So we got put in a room and waited for the anesthesiologist. By this time my family and Matt's mom had arrived. My mom came in and she and Matt helped me breathe through the contractions. The nurse was not my biggest fan, but then again she is the one who decided to ask me questions while I was having contractions and feeling like my body was being torn apart! One of our conversations went like this:
Nurse: How bad is your pain right now on the pain scale?
Me: Twenty five hundred!
Nurse: (Rolls her eyes) 1 - 10
Me: Uh, TEN!
Nurse: How do you learn best - visual, audio, practicing, or any way?
Me: I! DON'T! CARE! (Seriously, is this an important question right now!?)
Then the drug man came! Yay!! The epi was actually more painful than I had anticipated, but SO worth it in the end. Not even 5 minutes after he started it I wasn't feeling the contractions anymore. It was awesome! The nurse came over to hand dilate me and when she checked I was an ..... EIGHT!! I went from a 2 to an 8 that quick. So we waited and Mom, Dad, Spencer, Cami, Carissa, Cadon, Grandma, Aunt Lisa, and Kathy were all there in the room with us. Time is kind of a blur for me so I don't know exactly when certain things happened, but the nurse checked me again later and I was a 10. She had me sit up so that gravity could help Paiton drop lower. I stayed that way for a little while, then we kicked everyone out and the nurse taught me how to push since I couldn't feel my contractions. I pushed for awhile, then Dr. Jones got there and the real pushing began. That I could feel! I only had to push for about 40 minutes and out came little Paiton! They did have to use the vacuum on her head to help get her out, but out she came! It was amazing to hear her little cry and Matt was shocked and in awe. He didn't think he wanted to watch her be born, but once it started he watched the whole thing and thought it was awesome. He also cut the umbilical cord! Then they took Paiton over to do all her testing, look her over, and whatever else they do! I missed all of that because I was getting my tear stitched and cleaned up. After what seemed like forever they finally brought her to me and told me all her information! It was so awesome to see what she looked like. She has the chubbiest little cheeks and I just love her so much. Matt was the best thing I could have asked for. He let me squeeze his hands, he helped me breathe, he didn't let me give up even when I was sure I wanted to. I think he did much better than I did and I am so grateful to have had him there and for him to be so great!
Everyone got to hold her and meet her and get their picture taken with her. Eventually they let me up to go to the bathroom, which was interesting since my right leg was still numb! Then we got wheeled to our real room, which ended up being really tiny and I wish we could have stayed in the delivery room! Matt took Paiton to the nursery to get her first bath. We were so lucky because my first friend I ever made when we moved here, Kjeranne, was working in the nursery! She washed Paiton's hair and videotaped him giving her her bath! How lucky for him! I was jealous when he got back with the clean little baby!
We stayed in the hospital until Saturday afternoon, then we headed home. We had some visitors and everyone seemed to love her so much! She is so perfect and there is no way I could have imagined how I would feel about her. She is so much fun and so beautiful. Her dark blue eyes and dark hair are too cute! Here are some things we already know about Paiton: she squeaks a lot! She squeaks when she is happy, sleeping, crying, all the time! She has a very distinct cry and I immediately was able to recognize it when she was out of the room. We know that she hates to be naked and uncovered, she is very modest. We know that she is the single most beautiful baby ever, and I know everyone says that, but it's actually true about my baby :)
Matt and I made this video. We have loved this song for a really long time and have always wanted to have a baby girl to make a video to it. Now we have one! We spent a lot of time on it this afternoon and cried throughout the whole thing! I hope you guys all like it and get to see some good pictures of Paiton.
Thank you to everyone for helping us. We need it!! I am going to go snuggle my baby and my hubby now =)
Ok well the slideshow isn't working. I guess we'll have to email it to everyone. So here are a few pictures to hold you over :)

PAITON LOLA MARIE IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to give everyone a quick update even though you probably all know:
PAITON IS HERE!! SHE IS REALLY TRULY, FINALLY HERE!! We love her so much and the wait and the pain was worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat to get my beautiful daughter here. There are no words to describe how beautiful she is or how in love with her we are. None at all.
She was born on November 13, 2008 at 2:04 am. She weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. and was 19.25 inches long. She has dark dark blue eyes and dark hair, lots of it! She is the most gorgeous thing you can imagine. We got home from the hospital tonight, Saturday, and Mama Locke is having a little hormone problem deciding if I'm excited to be home or scared to death. I'm more scared and kind of wish we could just live in the hospital for the next, oh 18 years!
I will post the full, exciting birth story tomorrow along with a few pictures. A few. Haha. There's way more than a few!
Thanks to everyone for their love and support. I'm going to go snuggle with my Sweet P now :)

Induction.

Just got a call from the doctor's office. They were not able to move my induction up. Apparently the hospital is too busy on Monday with others. =( =(
It is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, at 7 am.

Dr. Appt Update

I just got back from my doctor's appointment. I know you're all waiting in anticipation to hear what happened ;) She said the dreaded words "Still a 1 1/2". (See, this is why I'm not a positive person. Then you just get disappointed!!) So I had figured nothing had changed and it hadn't! She did say she could feel Paiton's head and that it's really low, so that's good. She stripped my membranes again and ow again, although I'm getting pretty used to it now! She is going to see if she can bump up my induction date to Monday instead of Wednesday. PLEASE cross your fingers that she makes this happen! I am hoping not to need it at all obviously, but if I do I want it sooner rather than later! Kathy took me to the mall afterward and we walked around for a bit hoping to get things going. Now I am back at home and it's pouring rain outside so I won't be going for a walk or anything. Looks like I'll have to putt around the house and hope that it does something! I also wanted to say that today is Veterans Day and I don't know if he actually counts as a Veteran, but my brother is Dubai right now, a million miles away from his family. We are all very proud of him and love him more than anything and we are counting down the days until he is back here safe with us. WE LOVE YOU B!! THANK YOU FOR BEING BRAVE!!

40 WEEKS PREGNANT!!!

Well even though I wish Pai was here, it still is kind of exciting to have actually reached my due date! Now I know that she is fully grown and ready to be born today. TODAY being the key word ;) I have a doctor's appointment at 11:30 this morning. Matt's mom very kindly offered to come pick me up and take me so I wouldn't have to drive myself all the way out there. It really worries me to drive because I have to sit close enough to push the clutch in, which means that the steering wheel rubs my belly. If I were to get hit, it would be a really bad thing. So I am really thankful she offered to do that for me! Plus now I don't have to sit and wait alone!
I really hope Dr. Jones has some good news for me today. We could really use it! And I am giving fair warning that I cannot be held responsible for my actions if the words "1 1/2 centimeters" come out of that woman's mouth! It would be awesome if P is born today because it's her due date and it's 11/11 how cool is that!?
And also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my college roommate and one of my best friends, Jessi, and her boyfriend Scott! They share a birthday and it's today! Hopefully they share it with Pai!! :) I will definitely update later but today I am taking an approach that is so unlike me - I'm going to be positive. We'll see how it works out.... ;)

I just looked out the window and saw the beautiful sunrise! It is this awesome shade of hot pink that I don't think I've seen before. I hurried out to take a picture and it didn't turn out super, but hopefully you can still kind of see the pretty colors... It looks like a sunrise Paiton would like. I think today is her day...

Due TOMORROW!!!

Hi Everyone.
Well today is Monday, November 10. Paiton's "official" due date is tomorrow, 11/11~ although I pretty much disregarded that date a long time ago when she kept trying to come early and I was promised to have her by now! But officially, it is tomorrow. We are definitely hoping to have a baby this week, or today!!
Here is my weekend update: FRIDAY - Matt was off work because he had parent/teacher conferences Wednesday and Thursday. So we headed to my doctor's appointment and got my membranes stripped again and set an induction date of November 19, which is now 9 days away! Ugh! Then the boys played Xbox and I went to the craft show that Mom and Debbie had stuff in and hung out. We walked around a bunch and I started feeling really not good so I headed home around 9:30 that night. Spencer spent the night as he usually does on the weekends, and on Saturday morning I went back to the craft show. Walked around some more and found these cute tu-tu's that are really popular right now for little girls. Mom and I decided that Paiton MUST have one, so I ran to Joanne fabric and bought all the stuff. Then I started making her one and it turned out so cute. I am going to take the cutest picture of her in it, maybe for her announcement, just wait until you see what I have in mind :) That night Matt had tennis so I hung out at Mom's and she very kindly painted my toenails since I haven't been able to reach for awhile now.
I think my feet look great and not at all swollen or cankle-like. What do you think?? Sorry, I know this is disgusting, but it was just too good to not post. This is what my feet/ankles look like all day long. All I can wear is flip flops, and as you can see they are still cutting off circulation where the straps are. I am looking GOOOOOD!! :)

Sunday we all went to Mark and Debbie's for dinner and it was DELICIOUS as usual! When Matt and I headed to my parents first, we pulled into the neighborhood to find Carissa and Cadon walking in the rain like this:

Haha! Little monkey boy! We slowed down and rolled down the windows and yelled "Hi Cadon!" and his response to us was to make monkey noises! Apparently he thought if he got dressed up again and walked around he would get more trick or treating candy! Too funny. We had fun at the Nooth's and Cadon took a little nap.

Here is a picture of Spencer and his friend Mark:
This is a video of Matt and Cadon playing their special game. Cadon will ask Matt "Run? Run?" and move his little arms like he's running. That means Matt has to go stand while Cadon runs to him and then throw him in the air. Then Cadon always says "More? More?" This game can go on forever, or until Matt's arms give out and he drops the baby ;) Just kidding. Cadon is so much fun and is so smart! He's our little bilingual baby. He is learning most things in both Spanish and English, so although he doesn't talk in full sentences yet, he speaks two languages! The other day we were practicing colors and I showed him something red and asked what color it was. He said "Rojo" (I think that's how it's spelled?) and I said "No, what color?" and he kept telling me "rojo" before someone said "That's red in Spanish, he's right". Haha. Oops! Ok ok so the 2 year is smarter than me!

That is my update for now. Sorry it was so long!! Today I have some work to get caught up on (of course) but I am really hoping it gets interrupted by...I don't know...LABOR!!! :) Oh and a quick Brandon update, he is in Dubai right now and is hoping to go play in some indoor snow thing they have and go snowboarding! Sounds fun! He sent me an email yesterday and all it said was "Where is this baby you speak of!?!?!?!?!" Hehe too funny.
