Baby Shower!!!

Yay!! Yesterday was my baby shower and it was SO fun!!! It was one of those things where it didn't feel like it would ever get here! I was so excited and anxious for it! I have been feeling like I have nothing for Quinn, no clothes, no blankets, no toys, nothing!! Well, as you will see, that all changed pretty dramatically! We were definitely SPOILED!
To begin, Paiton has still been pretty sick since she got Croup last week. Sunday she woke up and seemed to be doing better, so I got her in her baby shower shirt and her doctor said once her fever was gone she wouldn't be contagious anymore. She didn't have a fever all day so I was glad!
She was really tired though, still, from not sleeping much the past few nights and took an early nap before the shower:
You can see that she still wasn't feeling great, but she desperately wanted to go help open Quinn's presents and eat "birthday cake". :)
The shower was at Grandma Riggs' house (isn't it always!?) and it looked so cute!
Cute cake table and CUTE cake!!
Yummy drinks
Yummy food
Luckily before I left the house to go I thought of grabbing Paiton's car DVD player so that she could lay and watch a movie if she wasn't feeling good. Good thing, because it was a huge hit to all the toddlers!
And even Titi! (Ok maybe she got roped into by a persuasive 2 year old...)
Paiton's cousin Kylie, Paiton, and her friend Charlett
Playing games:
Frankie got in on the movie action too!
I will try not to bore you with too many pictures but here are some where I'm not making a ridiculous face (there weren't many...)
Super cute diaper bag from Rheayn! I will have to get a better picture, but it has an owl on it!!
A "Q" with hedgehogs on it that my friend Jacy painted. She made Paiton a "P" with owls on it!
LOTS of people thought of Paiton and brought her presents too. It was VERY kind and melted my heart. She felt very special!
In her new fancy shoes from Ema
Quinn's swing!! Hooray!!
Super cute hedgehog onesie from my mom!
More presents
Paiton and her only girl cousin, Kylie, snuggling watching a movie. They are so sweet together. Kylie always wants to hold Paiton's hand and Paiton is constantly trying to make out with Ky :)
My BFF Kim and I and probably our last belly picture! She is having her baby, Graidy, a week from today! She is 38.5 weeks, I am 35.5.
Our newest nephew Ethan (1 month old) and Stacie and I
Matt wanted some baby loves too
Me with the hostesses - my mom and my cousin Amy. Love them both so much.
I am sad that I didn't get a picture with my Grandma, and also I didn't get one with Matt and Paiton! :(

This picture doesn't do it justice since all you can see are the big boxes, but our van was LOADED with stuff:
It overflowed into the front row with Paiton!
We were so completely, totally, undeniably spoiled rotten. We got TONS of clothes, blankets, Quinn got his customary quilt from Aunt Lisa, baby bathtub, baby diaper trashcan, hamper, activity mat, swing, diaper bag, toys, diapers, wipes, a carseat canopy, carseat zoombie, and TONS of other stuff. I can't even say thank you enough to everyone who came to celebrate with me and gave us amazing gifts. I hope everyone knows how truly appreciative we are of the amazing friends and family we have.

Last night when we got home Kotah went into one of the dogs new favorite nap places, Paiton's princess castle, and Paiton just had to join him:

We were definitely worn out and ready for bed!! Now I need to get brave enough to start sorting through clothes, washing them, and getting their room put together. Right now you can't even walk into it, it's so full of presents and diapers!!!! Um....MOM!?! HELP!?! ;)

New Sleep Study Update

I got another call from Paiton's sleep doctor today.
I had called and talked to the nurse yesterday after doing some research (I know, not smart) and I had some more questions. She was really nice and answered my questions and said that the doctor would be calling me today. She said that we definitely need to get things rolling before Quinn comes because most of the doctors have long waiting lists and they need to try and move us to the top of whichever doctor we need to see.
This morning the nurse called me again and said that she had talked to Dr. O'Donnell, the sleep doctor, and that she would be talking to Paiton's pediatrician, Dr. Zieba, this afternoon and would call me after their conversation.
So this afternoon I did get a call from Dr. O'Donnell. She had talked to Dr. Zieba. I told her I was confused about the results of the test, because the Central Sleep Apnea (the one that is a problem in the brain) seemed serious after I researched it and seemed really rare in children. She said that yes, it is very rare in children, but that Paiton did have some of those episodes during the study. She also had some Obstructive episodes as well (the one where the tonsils may be in the way.) After talking to Dr. Zieba they decided that since the Central Sleep Apnea is so rare in kids, they want Paiton to see an ENT first - to see if they think removing Paiton's tonsils and adenoids would resolve the issue. If the ENT doesn't think the tonsils are the problem, then we will have to go to the neurologist and do MRI's and things like that.
At first we thought that having surgery would be the worst outcome, but now it seems that it may be the "easier" fix and better than having a brain problem. Also, because Paiton has been so little - in the less than 3% for height and weight, they feel that having her see an ENT may be helpful. If she continues to weigh the same and not gain any weight (she has weighed 24 pounds for a loooong time now) then they would diagnose her as Failure To Thrive (which she isn't considered now, but might be in the future). Apparently being this tiny and not growing can go hand in hand with sleep problems. The doctor explained to me that the growth hormone is secreted during sleep. In kids like Paiton, who don't sleep, the growth hormone can't be released. She said that in kids that are small in size and have sleep problems, once they get their tonsils out it is common that they'll hit a growth spurt and immediately start sleeping better. So that was another reason they thought they'd start with the ENT.
So Paiton's pediatrician is going to call the ENT herself and see if they can get us in soon. Apparently the recovery for toddlers from a tonsillectomy is pretty bad and takes a full 2 weeks and they want this done before Quinn gets here - ha! I don't see that being a possibility, but they are going to try.
Now I just wait for a call from the ENT to see when we can get in to see her and see what she thinks. More waiting!!

35 Weeks

Yesterday was the 35 week mark!
I had an appointment with Dr. Jones (which totally got overshadowed and I forgot to blog about after I got the sleep study call - oops).
She asked if I wanted her to check me to see if I was dilated or not and I said "Nah!" It doesn't really make a difference anyway - Paiton was dropped and I was dilated to a 2-3 for a few weeks before she was born!!
So instead she just did the usual. Well, I should say, PAITON did the usual. This time Dr. Jones left it up to her (yes, the 2 year old!) to do my appointment. I should have video taped it. Maybe next week I'll remember to. She came into my room and realized there was no little heart rate machine, so she asked P if she wanted to walk with her to find one - which she of course did. They came back in and Dr. Jones measured my stomach with the tape measure, then handed it to Paiton who pushed the button to retract it. Then she set Paiton up on the chair to reach me and gave her the conducting gel. Paiton squirted it on my belly. Then Dr. Jones handed Paiton the heart rate thing and Paiton put it on my stomach and pushed the button. She landed right on the right spot and got his heartbeat immediately. (At this point in my telling Matt this he said "What are paying her for anyway if the 2 year old is doing your check ups?!" Haha!)
It was really funny and Dr. Jones said she loves it when Paiton comes in. I am making a mental note to remember and record my appt next week :)
Anyway, Dr. Jones said everything is fine. Quinn is taking up all the room in there - duh! He is really low but because I'm so short he's still up in my ribs and will be until he's out! She said she was in the middle of filling out my induction paperwork and we're still on for May 4th.
Now I start my weekly visits so I will be going back next week and then she will definitely be checking me to see if I'm dilated. Other than that nothing new! Said he's still measuring right on track and totally average, like P! I might be little, but my babies aren't!! :)
Here is my 35 week picture:
And just an update on P - we went to the doctor today and I was right, it's Croup! She was given an oral steroid and other than that we just wait out the other symptoms - fever, cough, etc. She is SUPER whiny and clingy today. I couldn't take her to daycare so I had to cancel 5 meetings today and stay home with her, right now we're snuggling on the couch because we are both exhausted!! I am hoping she feels better REALLY soon!! Unfortunately she has to miss her second swim lesson tonight and dance class tomorrow morning! Dang it!
Poor sicky poo:
Speaking of....Paiton started swim lessons on Tuesday! She did so good and had a lot of fun. I knew she would love it just like she did last year. She is such a little fish! Her favorite part was singing "Hokey Pokey". She was NOT happy when it was time to get out and go home, she wanted to keep swimming!
Here she is ready to go:
Had to get a few last minute games in on the iPod:
Too cute!!! Unfortunately this year I do not yet have the arsenal of bathing suits like I did for her last year. I better get on that!! :)
In other news - my baby shower for Quinn is in 3 days!!! (not that anyone's counting....) but I'm soooooo excited!! :) I think my mom and Amy are doing a fabulous job planning it and I can't wait to see it all!!! Thanks guys!!!!

Sleep Study Update

Because I know there is family waiting for an update on Paiton's sleep study, here is what I know so far:
I got a call yesterday from the sleep doctor. She said that she had spent a few hours going over Paiton's sleep study and she wanted to talk about it with me. We talked about what had gone on that night with Paiton not sleeping much and having trouble keeping her binky in, etc.
She said that the data they did get showed this: Paiton stops breathing throughout the night. About 9 times an hour her oxygen levels drop significantly. This triggers her brain to wake her up and take a breath. The doctor was shocked at that number and that Paiton REALLY is waking up that many times a night, like we told her. Anything more than that happening once an hour is considered abnormal, so 9 times an hour is severely abnormal. (By this time on the phone this pregnant mom was crying!)
She went on to say that in a perfect world we'd do like 3-4 nights in a row of sleep studies, but obviously that isn't an option. She said that she could hear Paiton making little noises when she sleeps around the time that her oxygen drops. I guess we've never noticed it or just are used to her doing that.
The doctor was really nice and was trying to comfort me, but basically we won't know any more until we go in to our appointment on the 18th. She is going to call Paiton's regular doctor and talk to her about what to do. It's looking like it's something called Central Sleep Apnea. The seizure testing didn't show any seizure activity, which is good, but they may want to go one step further to rule those out by doing an MRI on her brain - that will both rule out seizures but also show if there is anything else wrong in her brain causing her to have this problem.
If not, the only other thing she brought up was having surgery to remove P's tonsils and adenoids. She said Paiton is really young for this still, but they may have to do it to help her breathe at night. I asked her if we needed to be staying up with P all night to make sure she is breathing, she said of course not, but that any time we're up or awake during the night we do need to be checking on her. She has been in bed with Matt and I for the last couple months, since it got hard for me to get in and out of bed dozens of times a night to comfort her, and the sleep doctor said that's totally fine, she needs to be where she can sleep and where we can keep an eye on her. So for now that's where she'll stay until we get some more information.
The doctor knows I'm having a baby on the 4th, so she is doing what she can to speed things up - whether that means going to see an ENT about her tonsils, getting an MRI done, etc., we will probably have a busy couple weeks between her appt on the 18th and Quinn coming on the 4th. Definitely not what I wanted to hear and not what I had hoped for P.
I was pretty emotional about it yesterday, and still am today, who wants to hear that their kid's oxygen levels drop so low that their brain has to tell them breathe!?
Matt and my dad both were less than thrilled that the doctor upset me, but she was just telling me what they found and what I needed to know, she can't keep the results from me, so although it worries me and I don't like it, now I know that we have a ways to go before this is resolved and I will be keeping a closer eye on her (if you know me, you know that it isn't really possible to keep an even closer eye on her!!)
So that is my update. We will know more on the 18th.
Yesterday was not Paiton's best day! She has had a fever on and off for a couple days and I thought her top 2 year molars were coming in since the bottom ones are in already. But yesterday afternoon out of nowhere she developed a bad cough - a croup cough! Dang it! Croup is the same virus as laryngitis, so it constricts their airways and makes their cough sound like a seal barking. She also has a very raspy voice that now is almost gone, you can barely hear her squeak-talking! Poor girl can't catch a break! I called the doctor's office this morning hoping they would call in the steroid for Croup, but they (of course) want to see her, so we're headed in to be checked out in a bit.
To cheer you up, here are a couple funny Paiton stories:
-The other night we had just gone to bed and Paiton was sitting up between Matt and I. I think she had just gotten a drink or something, and she told us "I'm going to lay down now. Do you have any questions for me?" Matt and I about died laughing!! She is so funny!
- She has started saying "I've got a person, in my closet!" which is a line from Tangled, but we do get funny looks from people in the story when she says that! ;)
- The other day she told me "Today is my 18th birthday!" I said "Um, what!?" to which she responded "Today is my 18th birthday, just like Rapunzel!" In case you haven't seen Tangled 45,677 times like we have, part of it takes place on Rapunzel's 18th birthday :)

P is crazy!!!

I have a couple videos to share of our crazy kid!!
Last night Paiton was going CrAzY for some reason and was just laughing and being silly while sitting on the potty. She was laughing so hard and Matt and I were cracking up too. Then out of nowhere she says "Guys, this is my dream come true!" At that point Matt was rolling on the floor and I was doubled over trying not to wet my pants!!! This is one funny kid!!
I ran to grab my phone and the following 2 videos are what I got:

At the end of this second one you can hear Paiton call Matt a "crazy person". I have posted before about how that's a favorite phrase of hers. Too funny :)

Spring Break DAY!

Since we have had such terrible weather all of Spring Break week, we thought we would take advantage of the one nice day and cram a bunch of fun stuff into it!!
Friday it was supposed to be 70 degrees!! Woohoo!! That's practically swimming weather! ;)
We started our day off by running a couple of errands to get them over with.
Paiton looked so cute, as always!
Then we headed to Donnie Mac's in downtown Boise for lunch. We like that restaurant, they have "white trash" food, like trailer dogs, macaroni and cheese with cut up hot dogs, and Spaghettios in a can! :) It was fun and while we were there we discovered that Paiton has a love for flamingos! There were plastic flamingos everywhere, along with some flamingo paintings and shower curtains. Paiton LOVED them and wanted to talk to all the flamingos and give them kisses.
My favorite was when she ran up to one of the plastic flamingos and said "Hello flamingo! How are you today?" :)
After lunch we headed to the zoo. The zoo was...well...a zoo! It was packed, clearly we weren't the only ones with that idea. We were about to give up since we couldn't find anywhere to park but then Matt spotted a car leaving and snagged their spot! We were good to go!
We headed into the zoo with a little girl who was very excited about seeing all the animals!
When we got in the gate she wanted a treat and since it was our Day Of Fun, we happily obliged and got the girl an ice cream cone!
After quite a bit of melting her hands got numb and she wanted her ice cream in a cup:
You should have seen the looks and comments we got from people! We knew she would end up covered from head to toe in ice cream, and we didn't care! We knew she would think it was a lot fun to have her own ice cream and get to eat it while we walked around. And she did!!
Watching the zebras:
There is a new thing at the zoo called Wallabie Walkabout. You get to go in and walk through an area that has Wallabie's out jumping around! Paiton liked watching them and saying hi to them:
The one on the far right just had a baby and there was a baby in her pouch!
Watching one of Paiton's favorites at the zoo - the Serval's
She LOVES the giraffes!

Watching the lions:
After we were done at the zoo we walked over to a nearby park because Paiton was just dying to play at "Play Park" (which is what she calls any park now thanks to Dora). We played on the swings for a long time and enjoyed the sunshine!
Blurry bare baby feet = spring time!
When we were done swinging we decided to take a chocolate milk/coffee break and head to Dutch Bros!
On our way we made a potty stop at an Albertson's. Paiton saw this big M&M and said she wanted to give it a high five "Like Titi did!" (Mom, Dad, and Cami had just gotten back from Las Vegas for a soccer tournament and Cami had taken a picture at the M&M store giving one of the guys a high five.)
Then it was on to Dutch for our treats!! Yum!
Then it was time to head to the movie theater!! Paiton has been wanting to see the movie that just came out "Hop", but when looking at times online Matt saw that one of the cheap theaters had Tangled in 3D for cheap!! I had never seen a 3D movie and we all know how much Paiton loves Tangled, so we thought that would be fun to do!
We got there a little early so we played some games while we waited for our movie. Then FINALLY it was time. I think it felt like a lifetime to Paiton! We got our popcorn and drinks and headed into the theater! Paiton liked her cool glasses and wore them the whole time!
We have seen the movie PLENTY of times before, but it was really good in 3D! I was impressed, it was very cool!
After the movie it was definitely time to head home. We had had a loooong day full of walking and lots of fun. Paiton and Mommy were exhausted! (And I think Daddy too a little bit!)
Paiton fell asleep in the car when we were barely out of the parking lot!
