The first week of July we headed to Northern California to see Matt's family. I had never been up there and most of his family hadn't met Paiton yet. It took us about 11 hours to get there. It was a long drive and the last part of it was really windy through the mountains. Matt and I were both getting carsick and we thought Paiton was too. She was really whiny and crying and just didn't look like she felt good! She did great and having the DVD player was definitely a life saver! She watched lots of Toy Story, Monsters Inc, and Dora! It was much better than the drive we usually do to San Diego though!
In the car ready to go!

We got to Matt's Grandma's house in Angel's Camp first. We spent the night there. She lives in a really beautiful little community right on a golf course. Her backyard has deer in it every morning. It was a really neat place.
Matt cousin Ryan, Matt, and Chris all just happened to wear exactly the same outfit the first morning we were there. I'm pretty sure they called each other the week before and planned their outfits! :)

The next day we headed to a town called Murphys, about 15 minutes away from Angel's Camp, to see Matt's Uncle Kevin, Aunt Theresa, and cousin Kirsten. They have a cool pool and Paiton loved swimming in it! She is doing so good with her floaties!

My delicious Cosmo that Matt's Uncle Kevin made me:

Matt's cousin Kirsten and Paiton became fast friends. Paiton loved her:

They also have a Shiba like we do! Her name is Tomo and Paiton loved her. She was chasing her around yelling "Momo! Want pet!" and trying to pet her!

Happy 4th of July! Paiton and Grandma putting up some flags:

4th of July In N Out trip! Paiton loves it too!

For 4th of July we drove up near Sacramento (about a 2 hour drive from Grandma's house) and hung out with Uncle Greg, Patti, and some cousins. Their neighborhood has a big 4th of July party every year. We started the day playing games and swimming in the pool.

Yay! Swimming!

Paiton's cousin Fiona. She is cousin Kyle and Darcy's baby:

I made the girls matching 4th of July dresses:

To shoot with this:

Another cousin, her name is Payton too! We had to call them Payton 1 and Paiton 2 to keep them straight!

Then it was time for fireworks! Paiton was calling them "sparkles" and she liked to look at them but did NOT like hearing them! She would cover her ears and say "all done!" and cry. But as soon as one was over she'd say "More!?" It was pretty cute.

Eventually she snuggled up to her daddy and fell asleep. Even the loud booms didn't wake her up!

Cute Girl

You know you have a daring toddler on your hands when their knees are always scraped up!

Triple G and Paiton going for one of their many walks:

Knocking on Grandma's door

Laughing at Daddy and Grandpa playing golf

Matt golfing

Paiton got her first golf lesson. She loved it and didn't want to stop!

Paiton was always trying to steal Grandma G's jewelry and Grandma was a good sport and let her wear it. Then she found these little beads and gave Paiton them to wear. Paiton was calling them her 'pretties' and she insisted on wearing them every single day!

Grandma has toys in the closet in the room we stayed in and Paiton knew right where to go to find them and drag them out!

My little model. I loved this wall as we were walking around downtown Murphys. I told Paiton to go lean against it and sure enough she slowly backed up to it and posed for me :) Such a good sport!

Trying on hats at a cute baby store in the back of a winery (go figure) in Murphys

The main street of Murphys has a lot of little shops and wineries and it was really fun to walk around:

This is a store called The Red Store. It's in Murphys and my Grandpa Rigss' niece used to own it so I took a picture for him:

Then we went and walked around a really cool winery called Ironstone:

It is home to the largest gold nugget in the world:

Watching Planet 51 the night before we left:

We had a lot of fun and can't wait to go back again!
